Can somebody please explain this to me because I’m confused more so by the 811 code. Because when I was audited before all I got was a 420 code. But this time around I got a 811 and 420 code

Let me break this down for you - code 811 means you're under an income verification review, while 420 indicates a full examination/audit. Getting both means the IRS is doing a comprehensive review of your return. The 811 specifically looks at income discrepancies between what you reported and what employers/banks reported to the IRS. Since you've got both codes, they're probably checking everything extra carefully. I'd recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcript and get a clearer picture of what's happening and expected timeline. It'll help you understand exactly what these codes mean for your specific situation and what to expect next.

•It cant speed up the IRS but it tells you exactly whats going on and when to expect movement. Way better than calling them tbh

Hello Troy. Code TC 811 will reverse Code TC 810 in part or in whole. TC 811 will reverse the and release all of your credits owed. Code TC 420 indicates that the has been handed over the Examination and Appeals division. If you haven't called the IRS give them a call for clarity and peace of mind so you are aware.

Hey Troy! I went through something similar last year. The 811 code basically means they're doing an income verification - they're cross-checking what you reported against W-2s, 1099s, and other third-party documents they have on file. The 420 code is the actual examination/audit code. Having both usually means they found some discrepancies during the automated income matching process and now want to do a more thorough review. In my experience, these combo audits typically take 3-6 months depending on how complex your is. Make sure you have all your income documentation ready - pay stubs, bank statements, receipts for deductions, etc. The good news is most of these resolve without major issues if your paperwork is in order. Hang in there!
