Can I request different Tax Advocate? Current one ghosting me + 180 day hold no letter

My tax advocate has been completely unresponsive to all my calls and messages. Been trying to get answers about my refund status, and my as of date just updated to November 18th. No letter about being on 180 day hold has arrived yet. Starting to feel like I'm talking to a brick wall with my current advocate. Anyone know if its possible to switch advocates or what I should do?

Chloe Martin

You can absolutely request a new advocate! Call the TAS main number (877-777-4778) and explain your situation. Tell them your current advocate is unresponsive and you need reassignment. Document all your attempted contacts - dates and times of calls. This strengthens your case for reassignment.

Hey just wanted to share - I was in the same boat and started using taxr.ai to analyze my transcripts. It costs $1 but totally worth it. It told me exactly why I was on hold and what to expect. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself or waiting for advocates to call back. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It basically acts like a super smart tax expert. Analyzes everything in your transcript and explains it in plain english. Shows you all holds, gives estimated refund dates, and tells you exactly what you need to do to fix any issues. Saved me weeks of stress trying to figure it out myself!
