Can I email 1040X amended return to IRS? Filed June 2024, no updates yet
Anyone know if I can email my amended return to the IRS? I have it saved on my phone as PDF. Filed back in June and transcript shows nothing. Getting worried cause I need this money and the hotline is useless. Been checking Where's My Amended Return tool every day but it just says received.

Unfortunately the IRS does not accept amended returns via email for security reasons. Amended returns must be mailed in paper form. Current processing time for 1040X is 20+ weeks. Keep checking Where's My Amended Return tool every 3 weeks - checking daily won't speed things up. Your June 2024 amendment is still within normal processing timeframe.

Make sure you kept copies of everything you mailed! My amendment got lost last year and I had to resend.
