Bank of America Direct Deposit for March 24th - Early Release Possible?
Anyone with Bank of America and DD scheduled for March 24th? Just wanted to know if we have to wait till the exact date of the 24th? Does BoA release refunds before or after the scheduled date? Anyone know?? I've been checking my account every few hours since I got my DDD date. Thanks!

I have BoA and my refund was scheduled for March 17th. It actually hit my account at exactly 3:27am on March 17th - not a day earlier. My refund was $3,742 and I filed on February 2nd. Got accepted same day, then WMR updated to approved on March 12th with DDD of 3/17. BoA seems to release exactly on the date, at least in my experience over the past 4 tax seasons.

Bank of America typically adheres strictly to the Designated Deposit Date (DDD) provided by the IRS. Unlike some credit unions or online banks that offer "early deposit" features, BoA usually processes ACH deposits from the IRS on the exact date specified. You'll likely see the funds appear in your account sometime during the morning of the 24th, possibly as early as midnight or as late as mid-morning, depending on their processing batch schedule.

This matches what I've seen with BoA compared to my wife's credit union. She got her refund 2 days early while mine came exactly on the DDD. It's like BoA wants to hold onto that money until the very last second they're allowed to!

Thank you for explaining this so clearly! I've been wondering about this for years but never knew the technical reason behind it. Makes sense now why my husband always gets his deposit before I do even though we file jointly.

I was in the exact same boat last year with a March refund date. Kept refreshing my BoA app like a madman! After waiting on hold with the IRS for TWO HOURS trying to see if there was any way to get it faster, I found Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). Got through to an IRS agent in like 20 minutes who confirmed my deposit was already processed and scheduled - nothing could speed it up. Saved me from wasting more time on hold, but the answer was still to just wait for the actual DDD. So frustrating when you need that money NOW!

Is this service really worth it though? • You still have to pay their fee • The IRS will just tell you to wait anyway • Seems like you're just paying to hear bad news faster Couldn't you just check your transcript online for free?

I think the value is mostly in peace of mind, if I'm understanding correctly? Sometimes just knowing for certain there's no issue with your return might be worth it, especially if you're anxious about a large refund.

Have you checked your IRS transcript to confirm the 3/24 date is actually listed there? Sometimes the refund tools show estimated dates that aren't final. And what about your tax topic code - is it 152? Have you received any notices or seen any delay codes? These details might give more insight into whether the 24th is actually firm or just an estimate.

I've tracked my BoA refunds for the past three filing seasons, and they've always followed the same pattern. The IRS releases the funds exactly on the DDD date (never early), and BoA typically posts them between 12:00am-6:00am on that date. I've noticed that if your DDD falls on a Monday (like the 24th), it will absolutely not come early on the weekend. Looking at the IRS Direct Deposit calendar for 2024, any DDD of 3/24 should hit accounts on that exact date. Your transcript's 846 code with the date is the definitive source - that's the date you'll see it.

This is super helpful, thank you! I appreciate you sharing the specific timing patterns you've noticed. I'll set my expectations for the morning of the 24th instead of constantly checking my account before then.

Got my refund with BoA yesterday. DDD was 3/22. Hit at 3am exactly. No early deposit. Never happens with them. Been with BoA for 12 years. Always on DDD date. Never before. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Did you notice if any pending transaction showed up before the actual deposit? Sometimes BoA shows it as pending the night before.

Was your refund the full amount you expected? I've heard some people are getting partial refunds this year with adjustments.

Um, did you have to call anyone or did it just show up automatically? I'm worried mine might get delayed somehow...

Have you tried setting up alerts in your BoA app? You can create custom alerts for deposits over a certain amount. This way you don't have to keep checking manually. Does your Where's My Refund status show approved or still processing? Did you have any offsets or adjustments that might affect the timing?

IMPORTANT: If your DDD is 3/24 and that's a Sunday, be aware that ACH transfers don't process on weekends! Your refund will most likely appear Monday 3/25. The IRS Refund Processing Schedule indicates weekend DDDs roll to the next business day. Check your transcript for code 846 with the exact date to confirm!
