Audit closed Jan 29th for 2023 taxes - When will I get my direct deposit refund?
Just got notified that my audit for 2023 was closed on January 29th. Been waiting forever and finally got through that nightmare. Anyone know the typical timeframe for getting the refund direct deposited after an audit closes? Starting to get antsy about this money.

After an audit closes, you typically can expect your refund within 2-8 weeks. The IRS needs time to process the closure and release the funds. Check your transcript for cycle code updates - that's the best way to track progress. If you see code 571 followed by 846, your refund is being processed.

Thanks! Where exactly do I find these codes on my transcript?

They'll be on the right side of your account transcript, usually near the bottom with the most recent dates 👍

Instead of trying to decode your transcript manually, try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes everything and tells you exactly when to expect your refund. It's only $1 and way better than playing detective with transcript codes lol. https://taxr.ai

Yes! It literally saved me hours of googling and stressing. It looks at all your codes and gives you a specific timeline 💯

Pro tip: If you don't see movement after 30 days, call the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help speed things up after an audit closes. Keep all your audit closure docs handy when you call.
