As-of Date Changed from Feb 19 to April 22 - Status Changed from 'Still Processing' to 'Being Processed'

So my as-of date just went from February 19 to April 22. Is that a good thing? I verified my identity exactly one week ago, and today makes it two weeks since I started this whole process. What's interesting is that my refund status changed from 'still processing' to 'being processed'. Does this mean I'm getting my refund soon?! Why do they make this so unnecessarily complicated for people who just want their money back?

That's actually a good sign. The as-of date change means they're actively working on your return now. I had the same thing happen last month - my as-of date jumped forward about 8 weeks, then my transcript updated two days later, and I got my refund the following week. The change from 'still processing' to 'being processed' is definitely progress in the system. They're moving forward with your return.

Same experience here! My timeline: ā€¢ As-of date jumped forward 6 weeks ā€¢ Status changed to "being processed" 2 days later ā€¢ Transcript updated with 846 code 3 days after that ā€¢ Deposit hit my account exactly on the date shown The status change is definitely a positive indicator based on my experience!

I'm not entirely convinced this is always positive though. Couldn't the as-of date change sometimes indicate they're pushing back your processing due to backlogs? I've seen people mention their dates changing multiple times without any actual progress.

Have you checked your transcript yet? I was in a similar situation and couldn't make sense of all the codes and dates. I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained everything clearly - showed me exactly what the as-of date change meant for my specific situation. It also predicted when I'd get my refund based on my cycle code and as-of date, which was super helpful. Have you been able to access your transcript online? What cycle code do you have?

This verification process is like being stuck in traffic - you inch forward slowly, then suddenly things start moving. If you're tired of checking WMR daily (I know I was), you might want to try calling the IRS directly. Getting through their phone system is like trying to win the lottery though. I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) after spending 3 days trying to get through. They got me connected to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed my return was just moving through normal processing after verification. Sometimes you need that reassurance from an actual person rather than just staring at the online status.

I believe the as-of date change combined with the status update is potentially indicative of your return moving to the next stage in processing. The verification completion typically triggers a series of internal updates that may not be immediately visible to you. It might be worth noting that the terminology change from "still processing" to "being processed" often signifies that your return has cleared the initial verification hurdles and is now in the calculation and review phase. Have you received any notices or letters from the IRS during this period?

This is exactly the information I needed! My return is showing similar status changes right now and I was getting worried. Need to get this refund ASAP for some unexpected expenses.

So does this mean the refund is definitely coming? I'm in the same boat and really need to know if I can count on that money for my rent next month... šŸ˜“

Let me explain what happened in my case with these status changes: 1. First, my as-of date jumped forward by about 6 weeks 2. Then my status changed from "still processing" to "being processed" 3. About 5 days later, my transcript updated with an 846 code 4. The money appeared in my account 3 business days after that The whole process took about 9 days from the status change to having the money.

Your return is progressing through the IRS processing pipeline as expected. The as-of date modification to April 22 indicates a Transaction Code 150 posting date. The terminology transition from "still processing" to "being processed" confirms your return has passed identity verification and entered the Refund Processing Queue (RPQ). Based on current processing metrics, you should anticipate transcript updates within 5-10 business days, followed by a Direct Deposit Date (DDD) assignment via Transaction Code 846. The entire sequence typically concludes 7-14 days from your observed status change, assuming no compliance flags are triggered during final review.

I had almost the identical situation last month! My as-of date jumped from March 4 to May 9, and my status changed just like yours. Compared to last year when I had to verify by mail instead of online, this is moving much faster. Last year took almost 3 months after verification, but this year I got my refund exactly 9 days after seeing those same status changes you're describing. The online verification process seems to be working much better this year than the paper process they used to require.

That's interesting about the difference between online and mail verification. Do you remember if your transcript updated before your WMR status changed to approved? Just wondering what to watch for next in the sequence. šŸ˜Š

I've been through this exact same thing THREE YEARS IN A ROW now. Every single time they make me verify my identity even though nothing changes in my filing situation. Last year my as-of date changed 4 times before I finally got my refund. The whole system is ridiculous - but at least the status change you're seeing is actual progress. Mine took exactly 11 days from that status change to deposit.

Def a good sign! That status change from "still processing" to "being processed" is huge tbh. After ID verify, the system usually takes 7-14 days to fully update. The as-of date jump means your return is actively being worked. Most ppl see their refund within 2 wks of that change. Just keep an eye on your transcript for the 846 code - that's your DDD (direct deposit date). You're in the home stretch now!
