Anyone receive their IRS refund 1-2 days early on Credit Karma? (not talking about the paid 5-day advance)

My direct deposit date is showing 3/14 on the Where's My Refund tool and I bank with Credit Karma. Has anyone ever received their refund a day or two before the official date? Not asking about their paid 5-day advance feature - I didn't sign up for that. Just curious if Credit Karma sometimes processes these deposits earlier than the scheduled date.

Yes, this happens regularly with many online banks including Credit Karma. The IRS sends the funds a few days before the official date to ensure they hit your account on the promised date. Some banks hold these funds until the official date while others like Credit Karma, Chime, Cash App, etc. will often release them as soon as they receive them. I've consistently gotten my refunds 1-2 days early with Credit Karma for the past three years.

Honestly, checking your refund status is such a pain. I was doing the same thing - checking constantly, trying to guess when it would hit. I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer for me. It reads my transcript, explains all the confusing codes, and gives me ACTUAL updates on my refund status instead of the vague "still processing" message from the IRS site. Saves me so much time and anxiety. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It's amazing!! It reads your transcript but then explains everything in plain English. All those confusing codes? It tells you exactly what they mean and what's happening with your refund. It even predicted my DD date a week before the IRS officially updated it. Best tool I've found for tax season honestly.

does it cost money tho?

Worth every penny to not spend hours trying to decode IRS gibberish! The peace of mind alone knowing exactly what's happening with my refund instead of guessing šŸ™Œ

I got my tax refund like 2 days early with Credit Karma last year. I think most of these newer online banks tend to release funds as soon as they hit rather than waiting for the "official" date. Traditional banks usually hold until the exact date.

After weeks of getting nowhere with the IRS website, I used the Claimyr app and finally got through to a real person at the IRS! They confirmed my refund was coming and explained why it was delayed (something about a random review). Talking to an actual human was such a relief after all the automated messages. claimyr.com - definitely check it out if you're desperate to talk to someone at the IRS about your refund.

is this actually real? the irs never answers their phones šŸ¤”

100% real. It basically navigates the phone tree for you and gets you in queue for a callback. I was skeptical too but it worked - had an agent call me back in about 2 hours when I'd been trying for days on my own with no luck.

Trust me, after spending 3 weeks trying to get through on my own, it was the best money I've spent this tax season. My refund was stuck for months and after one call with an agent, it was released within days. Totally worth it for my sanity alone.

i used this too! got a callback in like 90 min when i had spent HOURS trying to get through myself. the agent fixed my issue right away.

I bank with Credit Karma and yes, I usually get mine like 1.5 days before the actual date. Not a full 2 days but definitely early!

awesome, that's good to know! fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

The timing rly depends on how the ACH transfers line up. Banks process those at different times of day. If the IRS sends it on a Monday and ur banks processing time is Tuesday morning, then yeah youl get it early. If ur banks processing is Tuesday night, then youl get it Wednesday. Hope this helps

i have wells fargo and they NEVER release early. switching to credit karma next year if thats true

Big banks almost never do early deposits. It's mostly the online banks like Chime, CK, Cash App, etc.

I'm also with Credit Karma. My DDD was 2/28 last year and it hit on 2/27 around 3pm. So yes one day early for me.

off topic but anybody else notice that where's my refund hasn't been updating correctly this year? mine was stuck on "return received" for weeks then suddenly jumped to "refund sent" without ever showing "approved" šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

same!!! wmr is garbage this year. I ended up checking my transcript on taxr.ai to figure out what was actually happening with my return. showed me all the dates and codes so I could see it was actually approved days before wmr updated

The IRS systems are compleatly broken. Every year it gets worse and worse. We pay to much in taxes for this kind of servise.

PSA: If your refund is delayed beyond the normal timeframe, don't just wait around. I was in limbo for 3 months last year. Finally used claimyr.com to reach an IRS agent who told me my return had been flagged for review due to a typo. Fixed it on the spot and had my money a week later. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human!

THIS!! The IRS won't tell you if there's a problem unless you call them. And they make it so hard to call 🤬

waited 9 months for my refund last year bc of a "review" they never told me about. wish i'd known about this sooner

does credit karma do this with all deposits or just irs refunds?

0 coins

all deposits typically. they advertise "up to 2 days early" for direct deposits in general

yes got mine 1 day early last year, same with my stimulus checks during covid

Just gonna throw this out there - if ur refund is delayed or u have questions about those weird transcript codes, I found the best way to understand everything is with taxr.ai instead of trying to figure it out yourself. Last year I was so confused by all the different dates and codes on my transcript but taxr explained everything in plain english and predicted my deposit date perfectly! https://taxr.ai

does it work for amended returns too? mine's been stuck for months 😭

0 coins

Yes! It works for amended returns, past years, everything. My friend used it for her amended return and it explained exactly where it was in processing and why it was taking so long. Saved her from calling the IRS multiple times.

My DD date is March 15 so this thread is super helpfull! Hoping mine comes early too lol

CK customer for 3 yrs. To answer your question: sometimes 2 days early, sometimes 1 day, sometimes right on the date. No rhyme or reason I can figure out. Last year was 1 day early if that helps.

I've been banking with Credit Karma for about 2 years now and can confirm they usually release refunds early! Last year I got mine exactly 2 days before my DDD, and the year before it was 1 day early. It really depends on when the IRS actually sends the funds vs your official date. The nice thing about CK is they don't hold onto your money like traditional banks do - as soon as they receive it, it's available to you. Good luck with your refund!
