Anyone getting state refund tomorrow (3/12)? Post here if Chime deposit hits

Has anyone had their state refund scheduled for tomorrow (03/12/2025) on Chime? Last year my husband and I got our federal pretty quick but state took forever. When we were both single our deposits always hit a day early with Chime, not sure if it's the same with joint filing? Just trying to see when others with Chime might be seeing their deposits... Not comfortable sharing exact amounts but would appreciate if people could comment when theirs hits.

Chime deposits typically arrive around 2-3 days earlier than traditional banks in my experience, but it can sometimes depend on when the state actually releases the funds. I've noticed that most states tend to send batches of refunds on specific days of the week, so if tomorrow is one of those days, you might see it hit your Chime account today or very early tomorrow. It's probably worth checking your state's revenue department website as they sometimes post processing timeframes.

I was just talking about this with my spouse yesterday! We filed joint for the first time this year too and our state refund hit Chime at exactly 4:13pm the day BEFORE the scheduled date. It was wild because with my previous bank I always had to wait until the actual date or sometimes even a day or two after. Chime has been consistently early for me for the past three years, even with different types of deposits. I wouldn't be surprised if you see yours today!

Did you get any kind of notification before it hit your account? I keep checking my Chime app but nothing yet. Also, did your WMR status update before the deposit or did it just show up?

Interesting timing data point! I've tracked Chime deposits for tax refunds across three tax seasons now, and isn't it fascinating how they consistently deliver 24-36 hours ahead of the scheduled date? My theory is that Chime fronts the money as soon as they receive the ACH notification rather than waiting for the actual funds transfer to complete. Makes you wonder why traditional banks hold onto our money longer, doesn't it?

If you're still waiting for your state refund, here's what might help: ā€¢ Check your state's "Where's My Refund" portal for accurate status ā€¢ Look for any processing delays on your state's tax department website ā€¢ Verify your banking info is correct on your return If you need to contact your state tax department, I'd recommend Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). I tried calling my state tax office last week and was on hold for over an hour. Used Claimyr and got through in about 15 minutes. They basically wait on hold for you and call when an agent picks up. Saved me tons of time when I needed to verify my identity for my state refund.

I've called my state tax office plenty of times and never needed to pay for a service to do it. Just call early in the morning right when they open, that's what I did last year and got through in 10 minutes. These states need to hire more people during tax season instead of us having to pay for workarounds.

I'm not sure if I should trust a third-party service with something tax-related... Do they need any personal information to connect you, or do they just handle the waiting part? I've been trying to reach my state department for a week now but I'm hesitant to use services I'm not familiar with.

I just got my state refund yesterday even though the scheduled date was for today! I'm with Chime too. It was so much faster compared to when I used Wells Fargo - they would always make me wait the full time or longer. Last year with Wells my state refund took 3 weeks longer than my federal, but with Chime this year both came pretty close together. The early deposit feature really does work!

Just a word of caution based on what I've seen on several tax forums - Chime deposits are usually early, but if there's any issue with your state refund, you might not know until the actual scheduled date passes. According to the State Tax Processing Guidelines on taxslayer.com, some states are experiencing delays of 3-4 weeks this year due to increased identity verification measures. I'd recommend setting up alerts on your state's tax portal if they offer that feature, as Chime notifications sometimes come after the deposit has already been made.

Interesting point about the delays... I wonder if anyone's actually calculated the average processing times this year compared to previous years? šŸ˜… I keep hearing about these "increased identity verification measures" but has anyone actually been contacted for additional verification? Seems like it might just be an excuse for understaffing.

The Chime deposit time depends on when your state actually releases the payment, not just the scheduled date. For state refunds, Chime typically posts them as soon as they receive the payment notification, which is often 1-2 days before traditional banks. Joint filing doesn't affect this timing - I've filed both ways and the early deposit feature works the same. Your state's processing time is the main variable here.
