When you say "verified yourself online" - do you mean you created an IRS account or do you mean you had to go through ID verification because your return was flagged? Two very different things.
No one can really predict what the IRS will do - they're completely overwhelmed and understaffed. BUT if you want REAL answers instead of guesswork, try using taxr.ai - you upload your transcript and it tells you exactly what's happening with your return, if there are any issues, and what you need to do. Way better than these stabs in the dark (no offense to anyone). I was in your exact position last year and wasted weeks trying to figure out what was going on before finding this tool.
Yeah it does cost something but honestly after spending HOURS on hold with the IRS and getting nowhere, it was totally worth it to me. I got answers in minutes that I couldn't get after days of trying.
Can confirm taxr.ai is legit. Used it when I had a weird code on my transcript and no one could tell me what it meant. The tool explained everything and even predicted when my refund would arrive - was only off by 2 days.
The only thing that worked for me was the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment but they resolved it same day once I got in front of them.
Quick question - are you trying to verify through the "Get Transcript" system or through the Identity Verification Service? They're two different things with different processes.
It's the Identity Verification Service. After I e-filed they sent me a message saying I needed to verify my identity before they would process my return.
KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING! And send it certified mail so you have proof of when you mailed it. The IRS has "lost" my mail before.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but make sure you're not using a public wifi network when attempting to access the IRS site. They have security measures that might block access from public networks.
I gave up on the website and just went to my local IRS office in person. Waited about an hour but walked out with my transcript printed. If your mortgage deadline is coming up fast, this might be your best bet.

If you have a tax advocate in your area, contact them! They can often speed things up or at least give you a straight answer about what's happening. Totally free service too.

•Tax advocates won't touch your case unless it's been over 30 days with no movement or you can prove financial hardship.

•That's not entirely true. I got help after just 2 weeks because I was about to be evicted and needed my refund. They can make exceptions for hardship cases.

I filed in January and got the same letter in February. Got my refund 3 days ago. So for me it was about 8 weeks total. Absolute bull💩 that we have to wait so long for our OWN MONEY.
