Don't forget about the advance child tax credit payments from last year, I got flagged for review cuz i forgot to report the payments id already received. That could be whats up with yours too.
My baby was just born this year so I haven't received any payments yet.
are you SURE you actually filed? like did you get a confirmation email or number? I thought I filed but realized I had just completed everything but never hit the final submit button š¤¦āāļø
I got so fed up with trying to decode my transcript and figure out what was happening with my refund that I tried taxr.ai after seeing it recommended here. Game changer! It explained everything in normal human language and gave me a timeline of what to expect. Saved me from calling the IRS for the 5th time. Worth checking out: https://taxr.ai
Try using taxr.ai to decode your transcript - it helped me figure out exactly where my refund was in the process when I was stuck in a similar situation last month. It makes those confusing IRS codes actually make sense! https://taxr.ai
Yes, it really works! It's not a scam at all. It just helps you understand what's actually happening with your return based on your transcript codes. Way better than trying to google every code and piece things together yourself.
call them!!! I had a similar situation and after waiting 6 weeks I finally called the IRS. Turns out there was a problem with my SSN formatting that was easy to fix but would have held up my return indefinitely if I hadn't called. Used claimyr.com to get through quickly instead of waiting on hold for 3 hours.
don't stress about WMR - i've found the IRS2Go app is much more reliable than the website version. For some reason it updates more frequently and doesn't give as many errors. Maybe try that instead?
Just downloaded it and still getting the same error. But thanks for the suggestion!
bummer. hang in there! The system is ridiculously slow this year.

Anybody else notice how they can magically process your payment in 2-3 business days but need a year to process anything that benefits you? 𤔠system

ā¢It's by design. They have every incentive to take your money quickly and as little incentive as possible to give it back.

I work in tax resolution and see this all the time. The IRS is required by their internal policies to give maximum timeframes, but identity verification usually takes 6-12 weeks in practice. If you want to speed things up, call the number on your notice and request to verify over the phone, or make an appointment at your local Taxpayer Assistance Center. Both options can resolve verification in a single day rather than waiting for mail correspondence.
