I can confirm this timeline is consistent with current IRS processing procedures. Per Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1.5.7, EITC claims filed early in the season should complete processing within 21 days after the February 15th PATH Act release date. My return was accepted February 3rd, held per PATH Act until February 15th, processed by February 28th, and deposited March 1st. The system is working as designed this year, which is a significant improvement over the 2021-2022 processing delays we experienced during the pandemic backlog.
This is so helpful! I filed on February 12th and was getting worried because today is March 4th and still nothing. But if I count from February 15th like you mentioned, I'm only at 17 days which is still within that 21-day window. I need this money for car repairs ASAP but at least now I know I'm still in the normal timeframe!
Is that 21-day timeframe business days or calendar days? The IRM procedures often specify business days for internal processing metrics, which would extend the expected timeframe significantly. Also, did you claim any additional credits beyond EITC that might trigger additional verification sequences?
Thx for sharing this! Just got my DD today too w/ EITC and CTC. Filed 2/10, accepted same day, WMR updated 2/28, DD today 3/2. Used TT and BoA. Seems like most ppl w/ EITC are getting pmts right around now. Huge relief tbh, was starting to stress bc my car payment is due Monday. Anyone know if the 2nd half of CTC comes separately or was it all included in this refund?
my brother in christ you are getting SCAMMED. I own a small business with rental properties and even I don't pay that much š
dang fr? Now I feel extra stupid for paying this much š
Don't feel stupid, just make a change! We all learn somehow
The cycle code you mentioned (20250903) is your processing cycle. "Processing" vs. "Still Processing" on WMR is actually meaningful - it typically means they've assigned your return to a specific processing team. The 570/971 combo usually means some kind of adjustment. If your transcript shows a zero balance, they'll likely release your refund soon after whatever review they're doing is complete.
Anyone notice how the IRS has gotten slower and slower every year? My parents said they used to get refunds in like a week or two back in the day. Now we're all sitting here decoding cryptic messages like we're working for the CIA just to figure out when we'll get OUR money back. The whole system is broken.
this happened to my husband and me last year. we got that same message for weeks and then suddenly got a letter saying we had to verify our identity. check the IRS website for identity verification. maybe thats ur issue too
whatever you do, DO NOT call the IRS general number. youll be on hold for hours and probably get disconnected. if you need to talk to someone, either use claimyr.com (they'll wait on hold for you) or call your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office.

Just to clarify something about cycle codes that might help you: The "05" cycle code doesn't necessarily mean your return will be processed faster than an "04" - it just indicates which processing day of the week your account updates on. Have you considered that your return might be taking longer because you filed during peak season this year? The IRS typically processes early February returns faster than mid-February ones, regardless of your historical cycle code pattern.

Back in 2022, I had almost the exact same experience. Filed on February 18th, usually had quick processing, but that year it took 24 days before my transcript updated. Called the IRS after 3 weeks and they said my return was selected for a "random verification" that didn't require any action from me. Got my refund exactly 9 days after the transcript finally updated. The system seems to flag more returns for verification during peak filing weeks (mid-February), so your timeline might be similar to what I experienced.
