I was in exactly this situation 17 days ago. My transcript showed 2/15/24 as the refund issue date, but I wasn't sure what all the other codes meant. I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained that my refund would arrive between 2/15 and 2/20. The funds hit my account on 2/18 at exactly 3:42am. The tool was surprisingly accurate at interpreting all those confusing transcript codes and gave me a precise timeline so I could plan accordingly.
Per IRS Publication 2043 and the Treasury Financial Manual I-TFM 6-8000, the 846 code with a future date indicates the scheduled ACH transmission date. I had my refund scheduled for a Saturday release (2/17/24) and it appeared in my account on Monday (2/19/24). The refund was processed exactly according to the Federal Reserve's Automated Clearing House regulations, which maintain a consistent 1-2 business day processing window for most financial institutions. Your funds should be available for your investment activities by Tuesday (3/5) at the latest.
Yes. Still showing PATH. Filed January 25th. Claimed EITC. Transcript shows processing. No errors. No letters. Just waiting. Others reporting same issue.
I went through this exact same situation last year and the year before. In 2022, I waited 3 months past the PATH Act deadline for my refund. In 2023, it was 2 months. This year I'm still waiting after filing January 24th. I've learned that calling rarely helps unless there's an actual issue they need to resolve. The PATH delay is just their standard operating procedure now, especially if you have a business with Schedule C income and claim EITC.
Had this happen. Waited nine days. Called bank twice. Nothing helped. Finally got deposit without warning. No explanation. Check your account daily. It will appear eventually. Frustrating process. System is broken this year.
OMG THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY TOO!!! š” I've NEVER had to wait past my DDD before and now suddenly it's like the IRS is playing games with our money! I ended up downloading the IRS2Go app and checking there instead of the website - for some reason it showed different information and was more accurate about my deposit timing. Worth a try if you're going insane checking your bank account every hour like I was!
When I was in this situation (waited over 2 months last year), I finally got tired of checking and called the IRS. Spent 3 days trying to get through before I found Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). They got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing and nothing was flagged. Got my refund about a week later. Worth it just for the peace of mind.
Check your Return Transcript instead of Account Transcript. Sometimes one will update before the other. Also, try checking on a Tuesday morning - that's when a lot of the weekly updates happen in the IRS system.

I had a similar issue with my apartment number. I used taxr.ai to analyze my tax transcript and noticed my address was incorrect there too. The tool flagged it as a potential issue since the IRS sometimes mails notices instead of using the online portal. It was super helpful seeing everything laid out clearly instead of trying to decipher the transcript myself.

ā¢Does that actually work? I've been trying to figure out what all the codes on my transcript mean.

ā¢Yeah, it breaks down all those weird codes and explains what they mean specifically for your situation. I was getting those 570/971 codes and freaking out until I understood what was happening.

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open at 7am Eastern. I've had much better luck getting through then. Also, for address changes specifically, sometimes the automated system can handle it without needing to talk to a representative.
