I've had Chime for three tax seasons now, and I swear they have a sense of humor about when they release tax refunds ๐ Last year my DDD was a Tuesday, and the money showed up at like 9:30pm Wednesday night just when I'd given up checking! The IRS releases the funds on the DDD, then there's ACH processing time, then Chime has to do their thing. Give it until tomorrow night before you really start worrying. At least you're not waiting for a paper check - those can take WEEKS after the mail date!
Just got my refund today with a 2/26 DDD! It hit my Chime account at 3:42pm EST. I was in the same situation - called the IRS after getting locked out of WMR. The IRS representative confirmed my DDD and explained that the Treasury Department (different from the IRS) handles the actual fund disbursement. The ACH transfer protocol typically takes 24-36 hours from the DDD to complete processing. Keep an eye on your Chime notifications!
I've been using TurboTax for 15 years now, and I learned the hard way about having fees taken from the refund. Last year I filed on February 20th and chose fees from refund. My neighbors filed the same day but paid upfront. They got their refund on March 2nd, while mine took until March 10th! This year I bit the bullet and paid the $89 upfront with my credit card. Got my refund in 11 days flat. The community wisdom here is pretty clear - if you need your refund ASAP, never choose the fees-from-refund option.
My sister filed on 2/26, one day after you, with TurboTax and fees taken from refund. She just got her deposit yesterday. So... you might want to check your bank account or the TurboTax refund tracker soon. The temporary bank accounts they use seem to process in batches, not strictly in the order received from the IRS.
Have you checked if your refund might be subject to an offset? Like a ship getting diverted before reaching port, sometimes refunds get intercepted for past-due debts before they ever reach SBTPG. Did you get any CP14 notices recently? Or could there be any student loans or state taxes that might grab your refund before it lands in your account?
Varo customer here. SBTPG updates are delayed by 24-48 hours sometimes. They batch process during tax season. Your DDD is just when IRS releases funds. Add 1-2 business days for SBTPG processing. Varo usually deposits within hours of receiving funds. Don't panic until 2 business days after your DDD passes. Check your Varo pending transactions too - sometimes it shows there first.
I think you're right about the delays in updating. It seems like, from what I've gathered, the SBTPG system might not be showing real-time information, especially during the busiest parts of tax season when they're processing millions of returns. Would you say it's worth calling Varo directly to ask if they see any pending deposits that might not be visible in the app yet?
This is much faster than what I experienced last tax season. My SBTPG funding took 5 business days to reach my bank account, compared to the 1-3 days you're likely looking at with Cash App. It's like comparing a local delivery service to cross-country shipping - Cash App tends to process these deposits more efficiently than traditional banks. If your funding date is 2/24 and today is Monday, you're almost certainly going to see it by Wednesday at the latest. The tracking number is your golden ticket - it means the money is definitely on its way.
Just to clarify something I've seen cause confusion: SBTPG's "funded" status means they've sent the money, not that they're holding it. If you paid for tax preparation through your refund, they've already deducted those fees before sending to Cash App. The tracking number is essentially a confirmation that the ACH transfer has been initiated. When I worked in banking, we typically saw these types of transfers complete in 24-48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.

Try calling SRP directly. Ask for pending deposits. They might see it already. SBTPG systems are overloaded right now. Tax season peak time. Sometimes they don't update until after deposit hits. Worth a quick call.

Based on what I've seen in the community, about 78% of people with this SBTPG issue still receive their funds within 48 hours of their DD date. Credit unions specifically tend to process government deposits in batches at 10am and 2pm. For SRP specifically, I've noticed from other posts that they typically release IRS funds within 24 hours of receiving them, even when SBTPG shows no information. I was so relieved when mine came through despite the tracker never updating!
