2022 Fuel Tax Credit (8849) Audit Concerns - Anyone Flagged Yet?
I'm seeing lots of people who claimed the fuel tax credit last year getting audited. Has anyone gotten the audit letter yet? I claimed it on my 2022 return and my transcript is showing some weird codes. Getting nervous about this whole situation tbh.

Tax pro here. The IRS is definitely scrutinizing Form 8849 claims from 2022. They've flagged many returns for review due to an uptick in fraudulent claims. If you legitimately used the fuel for farming, mining, or other qualified business purposes, keep ALL your receipts and documentation handy.
