2022 Child Tax Credit - Work Requirements? Need clarification on eligibility
I'm trying to file my 2022 taxes super late and I can't remember if there was a work requirement for the child tax credit that year. My kids lived with me full time but I was unemployed for most of 2022. Anyone know the rules for sure?

Tax preparer here - For 2022, you did NOT need earned income to claim the Child Tax Credit. The requirements were: child under 17, lived with you 6+ months, you provided 50%+ support, and they're a US citizen/resident. Max credit was $2000 per qualifying child. This is different from 2021 when they had special COVID rules.

•No - you need tax liability to get the full amount. You can get up to $1500 refundable even with no income tho
