DEO account frozen after ID.me verification - CareerSource visit yielded nothing but more waiting

After months of trying to access my unemployment benefits, I'm at my wit's end with DEO! My account randomly locked up in March and I've been jumping through hoops ever since. Finally completed the ID.me verification process (what a nightmare that was - took me 3 attempts to get through the video call part). Thought that would solve everything but NOPE - account still locked!\n\nDrove 45 minutes to the nearest CareerSource office yesterday thinking they could help. Sat there for literally 3 HOURS only for them to access some internal website I don't have access to. They submitted something and told me to wait ANOTHER 4-5 business days before anything might happen.\n\nThey gave me this number to call: 407-531-1222. Has anyone actually gotten through on this line? I've tried calling 8 times and either get disconnected or infinite hold. Is there ANY way to get my account unlocked faster? Bills piling up and I'm about to lose my mind with this broken system!

I'm sorry you're going through this nightmare. The exact same thing happened to me in February. ID.me is supposed to automatically update your DEO account within 24-48 hours but that RARELY happens. What worked for me was emailing RA.BPC@deo.myflorida.com with subject line

Thank you!!! Will try this email approach right now. Did they actually call from a real number you could answer? I'm so paranoid about missing their call.

That's not entirely accurate. The 407 number is for CareerSource Central Florida specifically, not all CareerSource offices. Whether they answer depends on call volume and time of day. Early mornings (8:00-8:30am) tend to have better success rates for getting through.

The whole ID.me thing is such a joke. I went through the exact same situation last month and wasted so much time. Eventually had to contact my state representative's office to get any help. They have special contacts at DEO who can escalate these issues. Google your district rep and try that route too if the email suggestion doesn't work.

I've helped several people through this exact situation. The disconnect between ID.me and DEO's CONNECT system is a known issue. Here's what I recommend:\n\n1. Send that email the other person suggested\n2. ALSO call the main DEO number (800-681-8102) and use Claimyr to avoid the wait times. It's at claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj\n3. When you get through, specifically request a \

Thank you! I hadn't heard of Claimyr before but just checked out their video. Definitely going to try this because I've literally spent HOURS trying to get through on the DEO line. Will request that specific \

CareerSource totally wasted my time too when I had this problem!! They don't actually have authority to fix these account lock issues - they just submit tickets that go into the same backlogged system. I ended up having to send emails to like 5 different DEO addresses before someone finally helped me. Took almost 3 weeks to get resolved. The system is completely broken.

Has anyone ever gotten their account unlocked and then had it IMMEDIATELY lock again after logging in once? That happened to me after going through this whole process and I'm worried it's going to happen to you too once you get past this hurdle. Make sure when they unlock it that they also clear whatever flag is causing the lock in the first place.

This usually happens when there's an identity verification flag AND a separate fraud prevention flag on the account. When they only clear one flag but not both, you get locked again after first login. When you speak with DEO, make sure to ask them to check for multiple security flags on your account. They need to verify there are no remaining holds that could trigger another lock.

That explains it! Wish the DEO rep had told me that the first time instead of making me go through the whole verification process twice.

UPDATE: I tried the email method first and got no response after 2 days. Then used Claimyr this morning to get through to DEO (took about 20 mins instead of hours of redialing). The agent was actually super helpful! She said the ID.me verification WAS in their system but there was a second security lock that needed manual clearing. Account is now unlocked and I can access everything again! For anyone else dealing with this - definitely ask about \

Excellent news! Glad you got it resolved. This is unfortunately very common - the ID.me verification solves one security lock but not necessarily all of them. For future reference for anyone reading, there are actually three different types of security locks that can be placed on DEO accounts:\n\n1. Identity verification lock (solved by ID.me)\n2. Fraud prevention lock (requires agent intervention)\n3. Multiple login attempt lock (automatically clears after 24 hours unless escalated)\n\nSometimes you need all three addressed to fully regain access.

That's really helpful info! I wish DEO would explain this clearly on their website instead of making us figure it out through trial and error. Thanks again for your help!
