DEO FPUC $600 payments - total number before July 31 deadline?

Hey everyone, I've been getting the regular unemployment benefits plus the extra $600 payments (FPUC I think it's called?), but I'm confused about how many of those extra payments I should expect in total. Is it capped at 13 weeks of the $600 payments, or will I get them for every eligible week until the July 31 cutoff? My claim was approved in early May, so I'm trying to budget and figure out how many more weeks I'll receive this additional amount. The DEO website is so vague!

The $600 FPUC is for EVERY week you're eligible for at least $1 in regular benefits, from the time period of March 29 to July 25, 2025 (not actually July 31). It's not capped at 13 weeks - that's the PUA program you're thinking of which is different. You'll get it for every qualifying week until the program ends on July 25th.

Thank you! This makes much more sense. So if I continue to be unemployed and eligible for regular benefits, I'll get the extra $600 for each week until July 25th. That's actually better than I thought!

the 13 weeks ur thinking about is prolly the PEUC extension which is different from the $600 extra payments. dont confuse them theyre 2 separate things!!

This is partially correct but needs clarification. PEUC has been phased out since the pandemic. What Florida now calls "Regular UC" provides up to 12 weeks of benefits (for 2025), and this can sometimes be extended based on Florida's unemployment rate. The $600 FPUC payments are completely separate and will continue weekly until the July 25 program end date.

I thought the same thing!! But I just got off the phone with DEO yesterday (FINALLY after like 80 tries), and they confirmed it's every week until July 25th. So budget for that end date. BTW the phone system is INSANE right now - I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through after wasting days trying to reach someone. You can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj - totally worth it to actually talk to a real person!

Thanks for confirming! The July 25th date helps me plan. And yeah, I've been trying to call DEO for days with no luck. Will check out that service - at this point I'm desperate to talk to someone who can give me clear answers!

THEY'RE CUTTING THE $600 OFF A WEEK EARLY!!!! The law says July 31 but DEO is ending it July 25!!! This is TYPICAL of Florida trying to screw us out of benefits we deserve!!! Has anyone tried fighting this???

Actually, it's not Florida trying to screw anyone. The CARES Act specifies the program runs until 'July 31, 2025, or the last week of unemployment before this date.' Since Florida's unemployment weeks end on Saturdays, and July 31st is a Thursday, the last full unemployment week ends on July 25th. Every state is handling it this way - it's not unique to Florida DEO.

I'm in week 10 of getting the extra $600 and my neighbor just started getting it 2 weeks ago. We were talking and realized we'll both stop getting it the same week (July 25) even though I'll have gotten way more payments than him. Seems unfair but that's how it works I guess?

That's correct - it's based on the program end date, not how many payments you've received. The $600 FPUC was designed as a temporary emergency supplement with a specific end date rather than a certain number of payments per person. Some people will naturally receive more payments than others depending on when they became eligible for unemployment.

make sure ur filing your claim weeks properly or you wont get the $600 either!!! my sister missed one week and didn't get the regular benefit OR the $600 for that week. DEO is super strict about this!!!!

does anyone know if they're gonna extend the $600 past july??? my bills dont stop just cuz the govt decides to stop helping!!

They SHOULD extend it but with this government who knows!!!! You should be calling your representatives EVERY DAY to demand they extend it! The economy hasn't recovered and we're STILL in a pandemic!!!

There's currently no legislation passed to extend the $600 FPUC payments beyond July 25th. However, it's always possible that Congress could pass something new before the deadline. For now, I'd recommend planning your budget assuming the payments will end as scheduled on July 25th, and then it'll be a nice surprise if they do get extended.

My cousin in California said they get a different amount. Is Florida's $600 different from other states?

The FPUC payment of $600 is the same fixed amount nationwide - it's a federal program. However, the regular unemployment benefit amount varies significantly between states. Florida's regular UC benefits max out at $275/week (one of the lowest in the country), while California's can go up to $450/week. So your total weekly payment (regular benefits + $600) would be different between states, but the FPUC portion is always $600.
