Anyone know when DEO stops the $600 FPUC payments in Florida?

I'm trying to plan my finances and need to know exactly when the extra $600 in federal unemployment ends in Florida. Some people are saying this week is the last one? Can't find clear info on the DEO website. I've been depending on this to make my rent payments and need to know if I should be panicking yet. Has DEO made any official announcements about this?

The $600 FPUC payments from the old CARES Act ended way back in July 2020. There was later a $300 supplement but that's also long gone. Any current federal supplements ended with the American Rescue Plan in 2021. Currently in 2025, Florida only pays the regular state unemployment benefit which maxes out at $325 per week before taxes. There are no federal supplements active at this time.

Wait what?? I just started getting $600 extra in my deposits through my Way2Go card two weeks ago. No explanation from DEO, just suddenly more money. I assumed it was some new federal program? Now I'm worried they made a mistake and I'll have to pay it back...

This 100% sounds like an overpayment situation. DEO's system is notorious for these kinds of errors! They'll absolutely demand that money back with a determination letter that gives you 20 days to appeal. CHECK YOUR CONNECT INBOX IMMEDIATELY and file an appeal if there's a notice. Don't spend that money whatever you do!!

When I got extra money it was backdated payments from weeks they owed me. Maybe check if that's what happened?

Just logged into CONNECT and there's nothing in my inbox about overpayments. Under "View and Maintain Account Information" it just shows my regular weekly benefit amount of $248. No explanation for the extra money at all. Should I call them and ask?

You definitely need to speak with a DEO agent ASAP. If they made a mistake with your payments, it's better to address it now rather than getting hit with an unexpected overpayment notice later. The problem is getting through to someone at DEO. I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that helps you get through to an actual DEO agent without spending hours on hold. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj that shows how it works. I used it when I had an adjudication issue and got through in about 15 minutes instead of waiting days.

The DEO system is completely broken! I bet they're doing this to hundreds of people and then will demand repayment with interest! Check the determination section of your account too - sometimes notices don't show up in the inbox but appear under "Determinations and Pending Issues" instead. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING and take screenshots of ALL your payment history NOW before they potentially change anything in the system.

This is actually good advice - taking screenshots of your payment history is smart regardless of what's happening. DEO's systems have been known to have display issues where information appears and then disappears. Having documentation will help if you need to prove what you saw.

my brother-in-law works for DEO and he said they're processing some old pandemic claims right now that were in appeals for years... could that be it maybe?

That actually makes sense! My neighbor just got some money from an appeal from 2021 that finally got approved.

Here's what might be happening - check if the extra money is exactly $600 or if it's some other amount. If it's not precisely $600, it could be back pay from a previous adjudication or appeal. If it is exactly $600, that's concerning because it matches the old FPUC amount, which suggests a system error. Either way, you need to speak with a DEO agent directly to clarify. Make sure to check both the "View and Maintain Account Information" section AND the "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" section of your CONNECT account for any notices.

You're right - I just double-checked and it's actually $574 extra, not exactly $600. Looking at my payment history more carefully, it seems like there might have been weeks from last year where I was underpaid? But there's no explanation. I'll try to get through to a DEO agent tomorrow morning to ask about it. Thanks everyone for the help!

That's definitely sounding like back pay from a previous issue that was resolved in your favor. Still worth confirming with DEO to make sure you know exactly what it's for and if there will be any more payments coming. Let us know what they say after you speak with them!

Will do! I'll update after I talk to them. Fingers crossed it's money I can actually keep!
