DEO FPUC $600 benefit ending July 25 - any updates on extension?

Hi everyone, I'm getting really stressed about the FPUC $600 weekly benefit ending on July 25. I've been managing to keep up with rent and bills ONLY because of this extra money. My regular Florida unemployment is barely $275 a week, which won't even cover my apartment. Has anyone heard anything official from DEO about whether this is definitely ending or if there might be an extension? I've tried calling but can't get through (shocker). The news keeps saying different things and I'm totally confused about what's actually happening. Thanks for any info!

As of right now, the $600 FPUC payments are officially ending July 25th for Florida claimants. The DEO website confirms this. Congress has been debating various extensions but nothing has been approved yet. Some proposals include extending at the full $600, others at a reduced amount like $300-400, and some want to replace it with a 'return to work' bonus instead. But NOTHING is official yet for after July 25th. I recommend checking claimyr.com if you need to get through to a DEO agent to discuss your specific situation. They helped me get through after weeks of trying. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

Thanks for the info! So basically we're all just waiting on Congress to make a decision? That's terrifying. Has anyone had any luck asking DEO agents about this when they do get through? Do they know anything we don't?

I work at a career center and here's what I know for certain: 1. The $600 FPUC benefit DOES end July 25th in Florida (July 26th in some other states) 2. Regular state unemployment (maximum $275/week) continues until your benefit year ends 3. PUA and PEUC programs continue until December 26, 2025 (but without the extra $600) Congress is currently negotiating the next relief package. The House passed a bill extending the $600 through January, but the Senate has different proposals. One would reduce it to 70% of previous wages, another caps at $200/week. The best advice I can give is to prepare for the $600 to end while hoping for some extension. Also, make sure you're doing your 5 required work searches each week now that the work search waiver has expired.

Thanks for this information! Do we know when Congress has to make their final decision by? Is there any chance they'll let it completely lapse and then retroactively pay people? I'm trying to figure out if I should use my last bit of savings to pay August rent or hold onto it for food.

my cousin who works for the govrnment said there goona extend it but only $400 not $600 and you have to PROVE your looking for work by uploading FIVE job applications every week not just saying you did it

Your cousin is confusing a few different issues. The work search requirement (5 per week) has already been reinstated in Florida as of May 10, 2025. That's separate from any potential extension of the $600 FPUC benefit. As for the $400 amount, that's just one proposal being discussed, but nothing has been officially approved by both chambers of Congress and signed by the President yet. I wouldn't count on any specific amount until it's actually passed into law.

I'm in the same boat as you! Been trying to call DEO for DAYS about this and can't get anyone. Finally broke down and tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and got through to DEO this morning. The agent told me they have ZERO information about any extension - she said DEO will implement whatever Congress passes, but they have no inside info and are waiting just like us. So frustrating!!! She confirmed my $600 ends with my 7/25 payment though. 😭

Was the Claimyr thing worth it? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did the DEO agent at least tell you if there will be any gap in payments if Congress does eventually extend it?

Honestly, yes it was worth it to FINALLY talk to someone after weeks of trying. The agent wasn't super helpful about the $600 question though. She did say that IF Congress approves an extension, there would likely be a programming delay while they update their systems, so we should expect some gap in payments. She recommended continuing to claim weeks as normal so we'd at least get the base state benefit during any gap period.

Just saw breaking news - Senate Republicans unveiled their proposal today. They want to cut the $600 to $200 per week through September, then switch to 70% wage replacement after that. Still has to be negotiated with House Democrats who want to keep the full $600. Nothing final yet.

This is totally off topic but has anyone else had their claim randomly go into adjudication during all this? Mine was fine for months and suddenly says "pending adjudication" and I can't get through to anyone. Not sure if it's related to the $600 ending or what...

That's not related to the $600 ending. When a claim goes into adjudication, it means something has flagged your account for review - could be an income reporting discrepancy, a job separation issue, or answering a question differently than before. The best thing to do is to check your determination letters in CONNECT to see if they specify the issue, and continue claiming weeks while it's being resolved.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I spoke with a DEO supervisor yesterday (after MANY attempts). She confirmed a few important things: 1. The last $600 payment will be for the benefit week ending July 25th 2. If you have weeks claimed before July 25th that haven't been processed yet, you WILL still get the $600 for those weeks when they process 3. DEO has a team ready to implement whatever Congress passes, but she admitted it will take time to program their system 4. Florida DEO cannot extend the $600 on their own - it MUST come from federal legislation She recommended everyone make sure their direct deposit info is current in CONNECT and that you continue claiming weeks even after the $600 stops. Also, keep up with your work searches since that requirement is back in effect.

Thank you! This is really helpful information. I'm especially glad to hear that if they're behind on processing claims (which they always are), we'll still get the $600 for weeks before the cutoff. That's at least something.
