Can't find 12-digit issue ID number needed for DEO appeal - where is it located?

I got a determination letter saying my claim was denied because they think I quit voluntarily (I was definitely laid off). I need to file an appeal ASAP, but the instructions say I need a 12-digit 'issue ID number' to submit online. I've been searching all over CONNECT for hours and can't find this number anywhere! The determination letter only shows a 'determination ID' which is only 8 digits. I'm seriously stressing because I only have a few days left in my appeal window. Does anyone know where to find this mysterious 12-digit issue number they're asking for? Is it on a specific page in CONNECT or hidden in some document I'm overlooking?

The issue ID number should be on your determination letter. It's in the top right section of the letter, usually labeled as something like "Issue Identification Number" or sometimes just "Issue ID." It's NOT the same as the determination ID number. If you can't find it on the determination letter itself, you can also find it by logging into CONNECT and going to the Determination/Pending Issue Summary. Click on the specific determination and it should show the 12-digit issue ID attached to that determination.

Thanks! I looked again at the letter more carefully and found a number labeled "Issue ID" that I missed before. It was in a different section than I expected. I really appreciate the help - I was panicking since my appeal window closes in 3 days!

i had the EXACT same problem last month!!! the issue number is NOT on the letter they sent me either! I called DEO like 47 times and kept getting disconnected. when i finally got through the lady told me i need to look under DETERMINATION SUMMARY in connect and click on the issue date, then there's a tiny button that says "details" and THATS where the stupid 12-digit number was hiding!!!! the system is DESIGNED to make us fail i swear

OMG this is super helpful. I looked in the determination summary details and found it! Their system is ridiculous... why couldn't they just put the actual number you need on the determination letter?! Thank you!

If you still can't find the 12-digit Issue ID, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get connected to a DEO agent who can tell you exactly where to find it or even provide it to you directly. I was stuck in a similar situation and kept getting busy signals when calling DEO. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and was connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who gave me the Issue ID number I needed. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj - definitely worth it when you're facing an appeal deadline!

Is that service legit? I've been calling DEO for 2 weeks with no luck. Getting desperate here...

0 coins

Yes, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it worked - they basically keep redialing DEO for you until they get through, then connect you. Saved me hours of frustration when I had to appeal my overpayment notice last month.

The 12-digit Issue ID can be found in several locations: 1. On your determination letter (top right quadrant usually) 2. In CONNECT under Determination Summary (click on the specific issue then "Details") 3. Sometimes it appears on the main Claim Summary page under "Pending Issues" And for future reference, you can actually appeal without the number by submitting a paper appeal form by mail or fax. Form DEO-RA0310 "Reemployment Assistance Appeal Request" can be downloaded from their website. Just include your claimant ID, the determination date, and attach a copy of your determination letter. That way you meet the deadline even if you can't find the issue ID.

Thank you so much! I found it in the Determination Summary like you mentioned. I didn't know about the paper appeal option - that's good info to have as a backup plan. Really appreciate the detailed help!

When I filed my appeal I couldnt find that stupid number either! My friend who works at CareerSource told me the CONNECT system actually has a glitch where sometimes the issue ID doesn't show up in the right place. She said if u can't find it you should take a screenshot of the determination letter and submit your appeal through the general message center in CONNECT with the screenshot attached. She said they have to process it by law even without the 12-digit number as long as you submit it within the appeal window! Hope this helps someone!!!

I just went through this last week! The Issue ID is different from the Determination ID. My issue ID was actually hiding in the CONNECT inbox attached to the determination message! Did you check there? Also the format is usually 2 letters followed by 10 numbers if that helps you identify it.

0 coins

wait thats weird mine was ALL numbers, no letters. are u sure ur looking at the right thing? my issue ID was like 123456789012 (not my real one obviously lol

Hmm now I'm confused! Mine definitely starts with 2 letters. Maybe there are different formats? Either way, I found mine in the CONNECT inbox message.

To clarify some confusion in this thread: There are actually TWO different ID numbers related to determinations: 1. Issue ID Number - This is a 12-digit number (all numeric) that identifies the specific issue/determination 2. Document ID - This sometimes appears on determination letters and may include letters For appeals, you specifically need the 12-digit Issue ID Number. The most reliable place to find it is in CONNECT under the Determination Summary, then clicking on the specific determination, then viewing the details. If you still can't locate it, call DEO and request it specifically.

0 coins

Ohhhh that explains it! I was looking at the Document ID. Thanks for clearing that up!

This is super helpful clarification. I found the correct 12-digit numeric Issue ID and submitted my appeal. The DEO system is so confusing with all these different numbers!

Just wanted to add one more tip that saved me when I was in this exact situation - if you're using a mobile device to access CONNECT, try switching to a desktop computer. The mobile version sometimes doesn't display all the fields properly and I couldn't see the Issue ID details until I logged in on my laptop. Also, make sure you're looking at the most recent determination if you have multiple ones - I was looking at an old determination from a previous claim by mistake! The system keeps all your old records which can be confusing. Hope this helps someone avoid the stress I went through!

This is such a great tip about checking on desktop vs mobile! I was having the same issue and couldn't figure out why some people were finding the Issue ID easily while I was struggling. Switched to my computer and boom - there it was in the details section clear as day. The mobile version of CONNECT is absolutely terrible for anything beyond basic claim filing. Thanks for sharing this - definitely would have saved me hours of frustration if I'd known earlier!

I had this exact same issue a few months ago and it drove me crazy! After reading through all these helpful responses, I want to add one more thing that might help - if you're still having trouble finding the 12-digit Issue ID even after checking all the places mentioned (determination letter, CONNECT determination summary details, inbox messages), try clearing your browser cache and logging back into CONNECT. I had a weird situation where the page wasn't loading all the fields properly due to cached data, and once I cleared it and logged back in, the Issue ID showed up in the determination details section like it was supposed to. Also, double-check that you're looking at the correct determination date - if you've had multiple claims or determinations, make sure you're clicking on the one that matches the determination letter you received. The appeal deadline is no joke, so don't waste time like I did looking in the wrong places!

Great advice about clearing the browser cache! I just went through this nightmare last week and that's exactly what fixed it for me too. The CONNECT system seems to have so many glitches - I was pulling my hair out thinking the Issue ID just didn't exist for my determination. After clearing cache and refreshing, it finally appeared in the details section. Also want to emphasize what you said about checking the correct determination date - I almost missed my appeal deadline because I was looking at an old determination from 6 months ago instead of the recent one. For anyone reading this thread, screenshot everything once you find your Issue ID and submit that appeal ASAP! Don't wait until the last day like I almost did.

This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with the same issue right now - got my determination letter yesterday and need to appeal ASAP. Based on all the advice here, I'm going to try these steps in order: 1) Check the determination letter again more carefully for an "Issue Identification Number" in the top right, 2) Log into CONNECT on desktop (not mobile) and go to Determination Summary → click on my specific determination → look for Details button, 3) Clear browser cache if I still can't see it, and 4) Check my CONNECT inbox for the determination message. If all else fails, I'll try the paper appeal form (DEO-RA0310) as a backup to make sure I don't miss the deadline. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it's crazy how hidden this number is in their system!

0 coins

That's a perfect systematic approach! I went through this exact same nightmare a few weeks ago and your step-by-step plan is spot on. One thing I'd add - when you're looking in the CONNECT inbox for the determination message, sometimes the Issue ID is buried in an attachment or PDF that comes with the message, not just in the message text itself. Also, if you do end up having to use the paper appeal form as backup, fax it AND mail it to cover all your bases - I've heard horror stories about stuff getting lost in their system. The fax number should be on the determination letter. You've got this! The fact that you're being proactive and have a solid plan means you won't miss your deadline like so many people unfortunately do.

I just went through this exact situation two weeks ago and it was absolutely maddening! After reading all these responses, I want to add that there's actually another place the Issue ID sometimes shows up that nobody mentioned - in the "Benefit Payment Control" section of CONNECT. Go to your claim summary, then look for a section that shows your payment history/status. Sometimes when you click on a payment that was held up due to the determination, it will show the associated Issue ID number there. I found mine this way after spending hours looking everywhere else! Also, pro tip: if you're really stuck and running out of time, you can actually start the appeal process by calling the Appeals Office directly at (850) 245-7105. They can look up your Issue ID while you're on the phone and help you submit the appeal right then and there. Yes, it's hard to get through, but it's worth trying if you're down to your last day or two. Don't let their confusing system prevent you from appealing - you have rights and they have to process your appeal if you get it in on time!

Wow, thank you for mentioning the Benefit Payment Control section! I never would have thought to look there. I'm actually dealing with this issue right now and have been going in circles for hours. I tried all the other suggestions in this thread but still couldn't find my 12-digit Issue ID. Just checked the Benefit Payment Control section like you suggested and there it was! It was under a payment that showed as "held" - clicked on it and the Issue ID was right there in the details. You literally just saved me from missing my appeal deadline. I can't believe how many different places they hide this one crucial number. The phone number for the Appeals Office is also super helpful backup info. This community has been a lifesaver - I was starting to panic that I'd never find this number in time!

I'm going through this exact same frustrating situation right now! Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences and solutions. I've been searching for hours and was starting to panic about missing my appeal deadline. Based on all the helpful advice in this thread, I'm going to systematically check: 1) the determination letter more carefully, 2) CONNECT Determination Summary details on desktop, 3) my CONNECT inbox messages and attachments, 4) the Benefit Payment Control section, and 5) clear my browser cache if needed. It's absolutely ridiculous that DEO makes this critical number so hard to find when people are already stressed about their appeals. Having the backup options like the paper form (DEO-RA0310) and the Appeals Office phone number (850) 245-7105 gives me some peace of mind too. This community thread has been incredibly valuable - you've all potentially saved me from missing my deadline!

I'm so glad this thread exists! I just went through this nightmare last month and it's reassuring to see I wasn't the only one struggling with DEO's terrible system design. Your systematic approach is perfect - that's exactly what I wish I had done instead of randomly clicking around for hours. One small addition to your checklist: if you find the Issue ID but the online appeal form gives you any error messages or won't accept it, don't panic! I had that happen and thought the number was wrong, but it turns out their online system was just glitchy that day. I ended up faxing the paper form with the Issue ID written on it and it went through fine. Also, when you do find it, definitely screenshot or write it down immediately - I made the mistake of not saving it and had to hunt for it again when I got an error. The stress of potentially missing the deadline is real, but you're being proactive and methodical which puts you way ahead of where I was. You've got this!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now and this thread is a lifesaver! Just wanted to add that if you're still having trouble after checking all these places, try logging out of CONNECT completely and logging back in. I had a weird glitch where the Determination Summary page wasn't showing the "Details" button at all, but after a fresh login it appeared and I was able to find my 12-digit Issue ID there. Also, make sure you're not accidentally looking at a "Notice of Determination" vs an "Adjudication" - they're different types of determinations and the Issue ID might be in a different spot. I wasted an hour looking at the wrong document! The stress is real when you're up against that appeal deadline, but based on everyone's experiences here, the number IS somewhere in the system - you just have to know where to look. Don't give up!

This is such good advice about logging out completely and logging back in! I'm new to this whole appeals process and honestly had never heard of this mysterious 12-digit Issue ID until I got my determination letter yesterday. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both reassuring and terrifying - reassuring that I'm not the only one who can't find this number, but terrifying seeing how many hoops we have to jump through just to exercise our right to appeal! I'm definitely going to try the fresh login approach if I hit any roadblocks. Also thanks for pointing out the difference between "Notice of Determination" vs "Adjudication" - I wouldn't have known to check for that. It's crazy that we need a whole community thread just to figure out how to find a basic piece of information that DEO requires for appeals. The system really does seem designed to make people give up before they can even file their appeal!

I'm currently going through this same frustrating situation! Reading through everyone's experiences has been incredibly helpful - it's both comforting and infuriating to see how common this problem is. The fact that so many people struggle to find this one crucial number just shows how poorly designed the DEO system is. I've been following the systematic approach suggested here: checked the determination letter thoroughly, logged into CONNECT on desktop, cleared my browser cache, and searched through the Determination Summary details. Still haven't found mine yet, but I'm not giving up! Planning to check the Benefit Payment Control section next, and I've bookmarked the Appeals Office phone number (850) 245-7105 as my backup plan. It's ridiculous that we need to become detectives just to file an appeal, but I'm grateful for this community sharing all these different locations where the Issue ID might be hiding. For anyone else in this boat - don't let their confusing system discourage you from fighting for your benefits! We shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops, but at least we can help each other navigate it.

I completely feel your frustration! I just went through this exact same ordeal last week and was ready to tear my hair out. The DEO system is absolutely designed to discourage people from appealing - there's no other explanation for why they would make such a critical piece of information so impossible to find. I ended up finding mine in the most random place: buried in a PDF attachment in my CONNECT inbox that I had to download and scroll through multiple pages to locate. It wasn't labeled clearly at all, just a random 12-digit number in the middle of a paragraph. Don't give up though! Based on everyone's experiences in this thread, that number IS somewhere in their system. If you exhaust all the digital options, definitely call that Appeals Office number - even if you have to wait on hold for hours, it's worth it to meet your deadline. We shouldn't have to become system experts just to access our basic rights, but unfortunately that's the reality with Florida DEO. Keep fighting for your benefits!

I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare right now! Got my determination letter yesterday and have been frantically searching for this elusive 12-digit Issue ID. Thank you SO much to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - this thread is literally a lifeline when you're facing an appeal deadline! I've tried most of the suggestions here and FINALLY found mine buried in the CONNECT Determination Summary details section (had to click "Details" after selecting my specific determination). For anyone else still searching, here's what worked for me: 1) Used desktop not mobile, 2) Cleared browser cache first, 3) Logged out and back in completely, 4) Went to Determination Summary and clicked on the exact determination date, then hit "Details". The 12-digit number was there but NOT clearly labeled - just listed as a string of numbers in the issue description. It's absolutely insane that DEO makes this so difficult when people are already stressed about losing their benefits. The system feels deliberately designed to make us give up. Don't let them win - your benefits are worth fighting for!

I'm so glad you finally found it! Your experience perfectly illustrates how broken this system is - having to go through all those steps just to find a number that should be prominently displayed on the determination letter itself. It's especially frustrating that it wasn't even clearly labeled in the details section. I'm currently in the same boat (got my determination yesterday too) and have been following all the advice in this thread. Still hunting for mine, but your success gives me hope! The fact that you had to look for just "a string of numbers in the issue description" rather than something properly labeled like "Issue ID: 123456789012" shows how deliberately obtuse they've made this process. It really does feel like they're banking on people giving up before they can even file their appeals. Thanks for adding your specific steps to the collective knowledge here - every detail helps when we're all trying to navigate this maze!

I just went through this exact same issue a few weeks ago and was absolutely pulling my hair out! After reading through all these incredibly helpful responses, I want to add one more potential location that saved me when nothing else worked: check your email! Sometimes DEO sends a separate email notification about the determination that includes the 12-digit Issue ID, even if it's not clear on the physical determination letter. I found mine in an email with the subject line "Reemployment Assistance Determination Notice" that had arrived the same day as my determination letter. The Issue ID was listed in the email body in a section I almost missed. Also, if you're still stuck after trying everything mentioned here, try accessing CONNECT through a different browser entirely - I was using Chrome and couldn't see certain fields, but when I switched to Firefox everything displayed properly. The whole system is a nightmare, but don't give up! That appeal deadline is serious and your benefits are worth the fight. This community has been amazing at sharing solutions - we shouldn't have to crowdsource basic information like this, but I'm grateful we can help each other navigate DEO's terrible system!

0 coins

This is such a great tip about checking email! I never would have thought to look there. I'm currently dealing with this issue and have been going through all the suggestions in this thread systematically. Just checked my email and sure enough, there was a notification email I had overlooked that contained the 12-digit Issue ID right in the body text! It was in a section titled "Issue Details" that I had skipped over because I was focused on the determination letter PDF attachment. You're absolutely right about trying different browsers too - I've noticed CONNECT has weird compatibility issues. It's unbelievable that we need a whole detective manual just to find one number that should be prominently displayed, but I'm so grateful for everyone sharing their experiences here. Between all the different locations mentioned in this thread (determination letter, CONNECT details, inbox messages, payment control, and now email notifications), hopefully everyone can find their Issue ID somewhere! Thanks for adding another potential solution to help people meet their appeal deadlines!
