Can't find 12-digit issue ID number needed for DEO appeal - where is it located?

I got a determination letter saying my claim was denied because they think I quit voluntarily (I was definitely laid off). I need to file an appeal ASAP, but the instructions say I need a 12-digit 'issue ID number' to submit online. I've been searching all over CONNECT for hours and can't find this number anywhere! The determination letter only shows a 'determination ID' which is only 8 digits. I'm seriously stressing because I only have a few days left in my appeal window. Does anyone know where to find this mysterious 12-digit issue number they're asking for? Is it on a specific page in CONNECT or hidden in some document I'm overlooking?

The issue ID number should be on your determination letter. It's in the top right section of the letter, usually labeled as something like "Issue Identification Number" or sometimes just "Issue ID." It's NOT the same as the determination ID number. If you can't find it on the determination letter itself, you can also find it by logging into CONNECT and going to the Determination/Pending Issue Summary. Click on the specific determination and it should show the 12-digit issue ID attached to that determination.

Thanks! I looked again at the letter more carefully and found a number labeled "Issue ID" that I missed before. It was in a different section than I expected. I really appreciate the help - I was panicking since my appeal window closes in 3 days!

i had the EXACT same problem last month!!! the issue number is NOT on the letter they sent me either! I called DEO like 47 times and kept getting disconnected. when i finally got through the lady told me i need to look under DETERMINATION SUMMARY in connect and click on the issue date, then there's a tiny button that says "details" and THATS where the stupid 12-digit number was hiding!!!! the system is DESIGNED to make us fail i swear

OMG this is super helpful. I looked in the determination summary details and found it! Their system is ridiculous... why couldn't they just put the actual number you need on the determination letter?! Thank you!

If you still can't find the 12-digit Issue ID, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get connected to a DEO agent who can tell you exactly where to find it or even provide it to you directly. I was stuck in a similar situation and kept getting busy signals when calling DEO. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and was connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who gave me the Issue ID number I needed. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj - definitely worth it when you're facing an appeal deadline!

Is that service legit? I've been calling DEO for 2 weeks with no luck. Getting desperate here...

Yes, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it worked - they basically keep redialing DEO for you until they get through, then connect you. Saved me hours of frustration when I had to appeal my overpayment notice last month.

The 12-digit Issue ID can be found in several locations: 1. On your determination letter (top right quadrant usually) 2. In CONNECT under Determination Summary (click on the specific issue then "Details") 3. Sometimes it appears on the main Claim Summary page under "Pending Issues" And for future reference, you can actually appeal without the number by submitting a paper appeal form by mail or fax. Form DEO-RA0310 "Reemployment Assistance Appeal Request" can be downloaded from their website. Just include your claimant ID, the determination date, and attach a copy of your determination letter. That way you meet the deadline even if you can't find the issue ID.

Thank you so much! I found it in the Determination Summary like you mentioned. I didn't know about the paper appeal option - that's good info to have as a backup plan. Really appreciate the detailed help!

When I filed my appeal I couldnt find that stupid number either! My friend who works at CareerSource told me the CONNECT system actually has a glitch where sometimes the issue ID doesn't show up in the right place. She said if u can't find it you should take a screenshot of the determination letter and submit your appeal through the general message center in CONNECT with the screenshot attached. She said they have to process it by law even without the 12-digit number as long as you submit it within the appeal window! Hope this helps someone!!!

I just went through this last week! The Issue ID is different from the Determination ID. My issue ID was actually hiding in the CONNECT inbox attached to the determination message! Did you check there? Also the format is usually 2 letters followed by 10 numbers if that helps you identify it.

wait thats weird mine was ALL numbers, no letters. are u sure ur looking at the right thing? my issue ID was like 123456789012 (not my real one obviously lol

Hmm now I'm confused! Mine definitely starts with 2 letters. Maybe there are different formats? Either way, I found mine in the CONNECT inbox message.

To clarify some confusion in this thread: There are actually TWO different ID numbers related to determinations: 1. Issue ID Number - This is a 12-digit number (all numeric) that identifies the specific issue/determination 2. Document ID - This sometimes appears on determination letters and may include letters For appeals, you specifically need the 12-digit Issue ID Number. The most reliable place to find it is in CONNECT under the Determination Summary, then clicking on the specific determination, then viewing the details. If you still can't locate it, call DEO and request it specifically.

Ohhhh that explains it! I was looking at the Document ID. Thanks for clearing that up!

This is super helpful clarification. I found the correct 12-digit numeric Issue ID and submitted my appeal. The DEO system is so confusing with all these different numbers!
