Can I delete and restart my entire DEO claim? Submitted with wrong information

So I just filed my unemployment claim last night and I'm freaking out because I think I messed up almost everything. I put the wrong employment dates, incorrect earnings, and I'm not even sure if I selected the right reason for separation. Can I somehow delete this whole claim and start completely over with a new one? Or am I stuck with trying to correct all these errors one by one? The CONNECT system is so confusing and I don't want to get flagged for fraud or something because of stupid mistakes. Has anyone successfully deleted a claim and started fresh?

Unfortunately, you can't delete a claim once it's been submitted in the CONNECT system. DEO doesn't give us that option. You'll need to call them directly to explain the situation and request corrections. Be prepared to wait FOREVER though - their phone lines are basically a joke.

Ugh seriously?? That's what I was afraid of. I've been trying to call all morning and just get disconnected every time. Do you know if there's a specific department I should ask for?

You can't delete a claim, but you can handle this. Don't panic! The best approach is to submit a message through your CONNECT inbox explaining all the corrections needed. Be very specific about each error (wrong dates, incorrect earnings, etc). Also, keep trying to reach a live agent who can help make these corrections right away. The sooner you address this, the better.

Thank you for this! I'll try the CONNECT inbox right now. Should I upload any documentation to prove the correct information?

45 minutes? You got lucky! I've been trying to reach DEO for three days straight about an adjudication issue and can't get through AT ALL. Their phone system is completely broken - it either hangs up immediately or puts you on hold for hours and then disconnects.

This just happened to my cousin last week! He got through to a claims specialist who corrected everything. Don't worry too much - they see this all the time. The DEO staff can fix most errors if you can actually reach them.

I've been in this exact situation and let me tell you, trying to reach DEO is IMPOSSIBLE these days. I tried for TWO WEEKS calling hundreds of times. Their system is deliberately designed to prevent you from getting help. It's criminal how they treat people who are already struggling financially.

I had success using Claimyr to get through to DEO when I had to correct information on my claim. Their service connects you with a DEO agent without the endless busy signals and disconnects. I was about to give up after trying for days, but with Claimyr I got through in about 20 minutes. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj and their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

I've never heard of that before. Does it actually work? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point because I've called like 30 times today.

Yes, it definitely worked for me. The agent I spoke with was able to correct several errors on my claim, including wrong employment dates. Make sure you have all your correct information ready when you call - exact employment dates, correct earnings, proper separation reason, etc. The more organized you are, the faster they can help fix everything.

Thank you! I'm going to try that today. I have all my W-2s and pay stubs ready to go.

While you're waiting to get through to DEO, make sure you continue claiming your weeks if you're eligible. Even with errors on your application, you should still claim weeks by your scheduled dates. If you miss claiming weeks while trying to fix the application errors, you could lose benefits for those weeks. The corrections can be applied retroactively, but missed claim weeks usually can't be recovered.

That's really good advice - I wouldn't have thought of that! My first claim week deadline is coming up in 3 days.

my friend put wrong job info too and she just waited till they called her for fact finding interview and fixed it then. took like 3 weeks tho

FACT FINDING INTERVIEWS TAKE WAY LONGER THAN 3 WEEKS NOW!! My adjudication has been pending for almost 2 months with no interview scheduled! The system is completely backed up and broken!

I'd also recommend documenting every attempt you make to contact DEO. Keep a log with dates, times, and what happened (busy signal, disconnected, etc.). If there are any issues with your claim later, this documentation shows you were proactively trying to correct the errors. Also, check if your local CareerSource office can help - sometimes they have direct lines to DEO staff.

I'll start keeping track right away. I didn't think about CareerSource - there's an office about 15 minutes from me. I'll try them tomorrow if I can't get through on the phone today.

Update: I finally got through to DEO! I used the Claimyr service that was suggested here and got connected to an agent in about 30 minutes. The representative was super helpful and made all the corrections to my employment dates, earnings, and separation reason. She said it happens all the time and not to worry. My claim is now being processed correctly. Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions!

That's great news! Glad you got it sorted out quickly. Just remember to keep claiming your weeks on schedule and respond promptly to any fact-finding questionnaires they might send. Sometimes fixing information can trigger additional verification steps.

So happy you got this resolved! I've been following your thread because I'm dealing with a similar issue. Did the agent give you any timeline for when your corrected claim will be processed? I'm worried about how long it might take to get my first payment after making corrections.

@Natasha Ivanova The agent told me it would take about 1-2 weeks for the corrections to fully process in the system, but she said I should keep claiming my weeks as scheduled during that time. She mentioned that once everything is verified, any eligible payments would be retroactive to my original claim date. Definitely recommend trying Claimyr if you re'having trouble getting through - it was a lifesaver!

@Katherine Harris Congratulations on getting it resolved! This gives me hope because I m'in almost the exact same situation - filed my claim with wrong employer information and have been panicking for days. I m'definitely going to try Claimyr based on your success story. Did they ask for any specific documentation when you called, or were you able to just verbally provide the correct information?

@CosmicCrusader When I called, the agent was able to make most of the corrections just based on what I told her over the phone. I had my W-2 and pay stubs ready in case she needed specific numbers, but she only asked me to verify a few dates and my total earnings from my last employer. She did mention that if there were any major discrepancies, they might request documentation later, but for basic errors like wrong dates or typos in employer names, they can usually fix it right away. Definitely have your correct employment info organized before you call though - it makes the whole process go much smoother!

@Katherine Harris This is exactly what I needed to hear! I made similar mistakes on my claim last week and have been stressed out thinking I d'have to wait months for corrections. Going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning. Did the agent mention anything about whether these corrections could delay your overall processing time, or does it pretty much stay on the same timeline as if you d'filed correctly from the start?

@Fatima Al-Hashemi The agent told me that since the corrections were made early in the process, it shouldn t'significantly delay my timeline. She said the key is getting the corrections done before they start verifying employment with your former employers. If you wait too long and they ve'already contacted your employer with the wrong information, that can cause more delays. But since you re'addressing it within a week of filing, you should be fine! The agent actually commended me for catching the errors quickly rather than waiting for them to find the discrepancies later.

I went through this exact same nightmare situation about 6 months ago! Filed my claim with completely wrong employment dates and earnings because I was rushing through the application. Like others have said, you definitely can't delete and restart - I tried everything to find a way around it. But here's the good news: once you get through to an agent (which is the hard part), they can fix basically everything. The agent I spoke with told me they see these kinds of errors constantly and it's really not a big deal from their perspective. The key is getting those corrections made ASAP before your claim goes into any kind of review process. Keep trying to get through - whether it's regular calling, Claimyr, or even visiting CareerSource. Don't let the errors sit there because the longer you wait, the more complicated it can become to fix. You've got this!

@Noah Ali Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It s'really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing. I was literally losing sleep over this thinking I had ruined everything. Your point about getting corrections done before the review process is really helpful - I didn t'realize timing could make such a difference. I m'going to keep pushing to get through to an agent today. Did you notice any issues with your payments or processing time after the corrections were made, or did everything go smoothly once they fixed the information?

@Lucas Kowalski Once they made the corrections, everything processed normally for me! I was worried there would be delays or complications, but my payments started coming through on the regular schedule. The only thing I noticed was that I got a verification questionnaire about 2 weeks later asking me to confirm some of the employment details they had corrected, but that was just a routine check. I uploaded my W-2 and pay stubs through CONNECT and it was cleared within a few days. The whole experience taught me that DEO actually has pretty good systems in place for handling these corrections - it s'just getting through to them that s'the nightmare part! Definitely keep trying today while your claim is still fresh in the system.

@Noah Ali This thread has been so incredibly helpful! I just wanted to add that I had a similar experience where I messed up my employer s'name and address on my initial application. Like you said, the agent was super understanding and told me it happens all the time - apparently people rush through the application when they re'stressed about losing their job. She fixed everything in about 10 minutes once I got through. For anyone else reading this, definitely don t'panic about these kinds of mistakes. The DEO staff have seen it all before and they know how confusing the CONNECT system can be for first-time filers.

Hey Katherine, I see you already got this resolved which is awesome! But for anyone else who might be in a similar situation, I wanted to share that I made the same type of errors on my claim about a year ago. Put down the wrong separation date and messed up my previous employer's info completely. I was panicking just like you were! What I learned is that these application errors are actually super common - the DEO agents told me they probably handle dozens of these correction requests every day. The important thing is to act fast like you did. I also used a callback service (similar to Claimyr) and got through pretty quickly. The whole correction process took maybe 15 minutes on the phone. So to anyone reading this thread who's freaking out about application mistakes - take a deep breath! It's fixable and way more common than you think. Just be persistent about getting through to an agent and have your correct information ready to go.
