Can I delete and restart my entire DEO claim? Submitted with wrong information
So I just filed my unemployment claim last night and I'm freaking out because I think I messed up almost everything. I put the wrong employment dates, incorrect earnings, and I'm not even sure if I selected the right reason for separation. Can I somehow delete this whole claim and start completely over with a new one? Or am I stuck with trying to correct all these errors one by one? The CONNECT system is so confusing and I don't want to get flagged for fraud or something because of stupid mistakes. Has anyone successfully deleted a claim and started fresh?

Unfortunately, you can't delete a claim once it's been submitted in the CONNECT system. DEO doesn't give us that option. You'll need to call them directly to explain the situation and request corrections. Be prepared to wait FOREVER though - their phone lines are basically a joke.

•Ugh seriously?? That's what I was afraid of. I've been trying to call all morning and just get disconnected every time. Do you know if there's a specific department I should ask for?

You can't delete a claim, but you can handle this. Don't panic! The best approach is to submit a message through your CONNECT inbox explaining all the corrections needed. Be very specific about each error (wrong dates, incorrect earnings, etc). Also, keep trying to reach a live agent who can help make these corrections right away. The sooner you address this, the better.

•Thank you for this! I'll try the CONNECT inbox right now. Should I upload any documentation to prove the correct information?

•45 minutes? You got lucky! I've been trying to reach DEO for three days straight about an adjudication issue and can't get through AT ALL. Their phone system is completely broken - it either hangs up immediately or puts you on hold for hours and then disconnects.

This just happened to my cousin last week! He got through to a claims specialist who corrected everything. Don't worry too much - they see this all the time. The DEO staff can fix most errors if you can actually reach them.

•I've been in this exact situation and let me tell you, trying to reach DEO is IMPOSSIBLE these days. I tried for TWO WEEKS calling hundreds of times. Their system is deliberately designed to prevent you from getting help. It's criminal how they treat people who are already struggling financially.

I had success using Claimyr to get through to DEO when I had to correct information on my claim. Their service connects you with a DEO agent without the endless busy signals and disconnects. I was about to give up after trying for days, but with Claimyr I got through in about 20 minutes. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj and their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

•I've never heard of that before. Does it actually work? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point because I've called like 30 times today.

Yes, it definitely worked for me. The agent I spoke with was able to correct several errors on my claim, including wrong employment dates. Make sure you have all your correct information ready when you call - exact employment dates, correct earnings, proper separation reason, etc. The more organized you are, the faster they can help fix everything.

While you're waiting to get through to DEO, make sure you continue claiming your weeks if you're eligible. Even with errors on your application, you should still claim weeks by your scheduled dates. If you miss claiming weeks while trying to fix the application errors, you could lose benefits for those weeks. The corrections can be applied retroactively, but missed claim weeks usually can't be recovered.

•That's really good advice - I wouldn't have thought of that! My first claim week deadline is coming up in 3 days.

•FACT FINDING INTERVIEWS TAKE WAY LONGER THAN 3 WEEKS NOW!! My adjudication has been pending for almost 2 months with no interview scheduled! The system is completely backed up and broken!

I'd also recommend documenting every attempt you make to contact DEO. Keep a log with dates, times, and what happened (busy signal, disconnected, etc.). If there are any issues with your claim later, this documentation shows you were proactively trying to correct the errors. Also, check if your local CareerSource office can help - sometimes they have direct lines to DEO staff.

•I'll start keeping track right away. I didn't think about CareerSource - there's an office about 15 minutes from me. I'll try them tomorrow if I can't get through on the phone today.

Update: I finally got through to DEO! I used the Claimyr service that was suggested here and got connected to an agent in about 30 minutes. The representative was super helpful and made all the corrections to my employment dates, earnings, and separation reason. She said it happens all the time and not to worry. My claim is now being processed correctly. Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions!

•That's great news! Glad you got it sorted out quickly. Just remember to keep claiming your weeks on schedule and respond promptly to any fact-finding questionnaires they might send. Sometimes fixing information can trigger additional verification steps.
