Have you reached out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.
I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my rep is?
Just google '[your state] find my representative'. Most have websites where you can submit inquiries. Worth a shot!
Two months is way too long! I went through something similar last year. Here's what helped me get through faster: Call right at 8 AM when they open, have your claim number and last 4 of SSN ready, and don't hang up even if you're on hold for hours. Also, document everything - dates you called, who you spoke with, what they said. If they tell you there's an "issue" with your claim, ask specifically what needs to be resolved and get it in writing if possible. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with these folks. Hang in there!
Just wanted to add another potential solution - sometimes the reopen option is only visible during certain hours or days of the week due to system maintenance windows. I've noticed the Colorado CDLE website sometimes hides certain features during their overnight processing times (usually between 11 PM and 6 AM). Also, if you filed your original claim during a holiday period or busy season, there might be special restrictions on when you can reopen. Try checking the site during normal business hours on a weekday if you haven't already. And make sure you're using the direct CDLE website and not going through any third-party sites - I've seen people get confused because some unofficial sites don't have all the same options. Hope you get it sorted out soon!
Great point about the system maintenance windows! I've definitely noticed the CDLE site acting weird during off hours. Just to add to this - I found that using Chrome instead of Safari also made a difference for me. Some of these government sites seem to work better with certain browsers. Also, if you're using any ad blockers or privacy extensions, try disabling them temporarily - sometimes they can interfere with the site's functionality. The whole thing is so finicky but between all these suggestions hopefully something works!
I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! It's so frustrating when you need to reopen your claim and the website just doesn't cooperate. Based on what everyone's shared here, I'm going to try a few things: first clearing my browser cache like Alana suggested, then checking for any pending verification requirements in my account messages, and looking in the "Claim Status" section that Emma mentioned. If none of that works, I might have to bite the bullet and either call or try that claimyr service that Sara talked about. Thanks everyone for all the helpful suggestions - it's nice to know I'm not the only one struggling with this system! Will update if I figure it out.
Hey! I'm new to this whole unemployment process but reading through all these suggestions has been super helpful. I'm actually worried I might run into the same issue when I need to file my claim soon. Question for everyone - is there a way to prevent these kinds of problems from happening in the first place? Like should I be doing something specific when I first file to make sure reopening goes smoothly later? Also, has anyone tried contacting their local workforce center for help with website issues? I saw one mentioned in my area and wondering if they might be able to assist with navigating the online system. Thanks for all the great advice in this thread!
To all those having trouble reaching a human at Unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/pkaHKRBb294
I'm going through the same situation with backdating my claim. From what I've gathered from the comments here, it seems like the key steps are: 1) Apply for standard UI benefits first in MyUI+, 2) Look for the "reopen " option, and 3) If your account is locked/on hold, submit the Program Integrity Hold form. Has anyone had recent success with this process? I'm wondering about current wait times and if there are any new requirements I should be aware of. Thanks for sharing all these helpful resources!
Hey Sofia! I'm in a similar boat trying to my claim. I've been following the steps mentioned here but still haven't had much luck getting through to anyone. The phone lines are always busy and I'm not sure if is still being processed for backdating. Has anyone actually gotten their approved recently? I'm worried I might be wasting time if they're not even accepting these requests anymore. Any updates would be super helpful!
Plot twist: the unemployment office is actually run by squirrels and they're just really behind on their acorn paperwork πΏοΈπ
LOL this made me laugh way harder than it should have π€£
I'm so sorry you're going through this, Amina. The wait times are absolutely unacceptable. Here's what helped me when I was in a similar situation: 1. Document EVERYTHING - keep screenshots of your online account, note down every time you try to call with date/time 2. File a complaint with the Colorado Department of Labor - sometimes this creates a paper trail that gets attention 3. Try calling your county's workforce center directly instead of the main line - they sometimes have better access 4. If you're really struggling financially, look into local food banks and emergency assistance programs while you wait The system is broken, but don't give up. Your benefits are owed to you. Hang in there! πͺ
This is really helpful advice! I especially like the tip about documenting everything - I wish I had started doing that from day one. @Eli Butler, do you know if the county workforce centers actually have more pull with getting claims processed? I've been so focused on the main unemployment line that I never thought to try local offices.

I'm so sorry you're going through this nightmare! π I just went through a similar situation with a program integrity hold that lasted 7 weeks, and I know how absolutely exhausting and demoralizing it can be when you're just trying to get benefits you've rightfully earned. A few things that finally worked for me: β’ **Try calling at 7:58 AM exactly** - I had better luck in that tiny window before the main rush hits at 8:00 β’ **When you get through, immediately ask for a "tier 2 program integrity specialist"** - don't waste time with general agents who can't actually review these holds β’ **Request a "manual expedited review"** - use those exact words. It's apparently a specific process they can initiate β’ **Get a case reference number** for every single interaction and ask them to email you a summary of the call That 8-month denial determination is almost certainly automated garbage that doesn't reflect your recent submissions. I got a similar scary letter that turned out to be completely wrong once a human actually looked at my case. Also, definitely follow up on whether your documents were actually received - I learned that the online system can show "successful upload" but the files never make it to the right department. Ask them to check for "pending documents in imaging" specifically. The whole system is designed to wear you down, but don't give up! You've already done everything right by submitting your paperwork. Now it's just about finding the right person who can actually process it. Stay strong! πͺ

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this absolute mess! π€ The unemployment system really feels like it's designed to break people down until they just give up. I've been reading through all the advice here and it's both helpful and infuriating to see how many of us are going through the exact same nightmare. One thing I wanted to add that helped me recently - when you do finally get someone on the phone, ask them to check if your case has been assigned to a specific examiner or if it's just sitting in a general queue. Sometimes these program integrity holds get stuck in limbo because no one has actually been assigned to review them. If it's unassigned, ask them to escalate it to get a dedicated reviewer. Also, I've had luck calling the Spanish language line and asking to be transferred (if you speak English only). Sometimes their wait times are shorter and they can still help with English-speaking claims. The fact that you sent everything they asked for but still got that denial notice is so typical of their broken system. Don't let that automated response discourage you - it's probably just the system being its usual incompetent self. Keep fighting! You shouldn't have to become an expert in navigating bureaucratic hell just to get benefits you've earned, but unfortunately that's where we are. This community is proof that persistence pays off though. Hang in there! πͺ
