Where is the EDD unemployment office in Stockton? Different from disability office?
I've been trying to resolve an issue with my unemployment claim and think I need to visit an office in person. I went to what I thought was the EDD office in Stockton yesterday but turns out it was only for disability claims. The staff there weren't very helpful and just told me it's "somewhere else" without giving me an actual address. Has anyone had to visit an unemployment office in Stockton recently? Where exactly is it located? And do I need an appointment or can I just walk in? My claim has been pending for over 3 weeks and phone calls aren't getting me anywhere.

theres no actual EDD unemployment office in stockton anymore. they closed most of the physical locations back in like 2019. u gotta go to an America's Job Center (AJCC) now. theres one on E Main Street i think

•Really? That's so frustrating. I've been driving all over town! Do you know if they can actually help with claim issues at the AJCC or do they just help with job searches?

The previous commenter is partially correct. There isn't a dedicated EDD unemployment office in Stockton anymore, but the WorkNet Center (which is an America's Job Center of California/AJCC) can provide some EDD services. It's located at 2500 Stanislaus Street, Stockton, CA 95204. However, they mainly focus on job search assistance rather than complex claim issues. For actual claim problems, you're much better off getting through to an EDD representative on the phone. They're the ones who can access your full claim details and make changes.

•Thank you! This is really helpful. I've been trying to call for weeks but can never get through. Always get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it hangs up.

I had the EXACT same problem last month!! So frustrating!!! I went to that WorkNet center on Stanislaus and while they were nice, they couldn't actually fix my pending payment issue. They basically just let me use their computers to check my account (which I could do at home anyway) and gave me some general info sheets. They said only actual EDD reps on the phone have access to the system to fix issues. I wasted half a day going there :/

I used to work at the AJCC in Modesto (similar to the Stockton one). Here's what you need to know: 1. The physical EDD unemployment offices were mostly closed years ago 2. AJCCs can provide basic assistance but CANNOT fix claim issues 3. For actual claim problems, phone is your only option 4. The Stockton AJCC has EDD computers where you can access your account 5. They sometimes have EDD forms you can fill out But for something like a claim stuck in pending, only a real EDD representative on the phone can help you.

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago with my claim stuck in pending. After days of trying to get through on the phone with no luck, I found a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD representative in about 20 minutes. It saved me so much time and frustration. Check out their website (claimyr.com) or their video demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep was able to fix my pending issue right away. Turns out there was a simple flag on my account that needed to be removed, but it could only be done by phone.

•I've never heard of this service before. Did it actually work for you? I'm desperate at this point so I'll try anything that might help me get through to someone.

Yes, it definitely worked for me. My claim had been pending for almost a month, and I was getting nowhere trying to call EDD myself. The service bypasses the busy signals and connects you directly to an EDD rep. Mine was able to see that there was a simple verification flag on my account that needed to be cleared, and she fixed it while I was on the phone. My payment switched from pending to paid two days later.

my neighbor went to the worknet place in stockton last week and said they told her most things have to be done online now anyway. even if u go in person they just have u use their computers to do the same stuff ud do at home. kinda pointless imo

To summarize for anyone finding this thread later: 1. There is NO dedicated EDD unemployment office in Stockton anymore 2. The WorkNet Center/AJCC (2500 Stanislaus St) offers limited EDD services but cannot resolve claim issues 3. For actual claim problems (like payments stuck in pending), you must speak with an EDD representative by phone 4. The disability office is separate from unemployment services 5. Most EDD services are now handled online through UI Online or by phone The frustrating reality is that for claim issues, getting through on the phone is currently your only option. The in-person offices simply don't have access to the systems needed to resolve most claim problems.

•Thanks everyone for the helpful information! I'll stop wasting time driving around looking for an office that doesn't exist. Going to try getting through on the phone again, and if that doesn't work, I might try that service someone mentioned.

I feel your pain! I went through the same runaround about 6 months ago. The whole system is so confusing now. Just wanted to add that if you do decide to try calling EDD directly, the best times I've found are right when they open at 8am or during lunch hours (around 12-1pm). The lines seem slightly less busy then. Also, if you get the automated message that hangs up on you, sometimes calling back immediately works - I think their system cycles through different queue capacities. It took me about 2 weeks of persistent calling but I finally got through. Good luck with whatever route you choose!

•This is really helpful timing advice! I never thought about calling right at opening or during lunch. I've been trying random times throughout the day with no luck. Definitely going to set my alarm for 7:55am tomorrow and try calling right when they open. Two weeks of persistent calling sounds exhausting but if that's what it takes... Thanks for the specific time suggestions!

Another tip that worked for me - try calling the technical support line (1-866-333-4606) instead of the main number. Sometimes they can transfer you directly to a claims specialist without you having to go through the main queue. I discovered this by accident when I was having trouble logging into my UI Online account. The tech support person was actually able to look at my claim status and connected me to someone who could help with my pending payments. It's not guaranteed to work every time, but it's worth a shot if you keep getting hung up on with the main line!

•Oh wow, I never would have thought to try the technical support line! That's such a clever workaround. I'm definitely going to try this along with calling right at 8am. It's crazy that we have to figure out these "hacks" just to get basic help with our claims, but I really appreciate everyone sharing what actually worked for them. Between the early morning calls, the tech support number, and that Claimyr service others mentioned, I finally feel like I have some real strategies to try instead of just randomly calling and hoping for the best.

One more thing that helped me when I was dealing with a similar pending claim issue - if you have a local assembly member or state senator's office nearby, they sometimes have constituent services that can help with EDD issues. I contacted my assembly member's office after being stuck for almost 2 months and they were able to escalate my case directly to EDD. It took about a week after that for someone from EDD to call me back, but they resolved my issue in that one phone call. It's worth looking up who represents your district and giving their office a call - they deal with EDD problems pretty regularly and know how to get things moving. Just another option if the phone calls and other methods don't work out!
