SDI payment delay: 3+ weeks in waiting period, no updates. What to do?
I haven't received my disability payment for over 3 weeks now. I'm in the waiting period, but I haven't gotten any updates or notices from the disability office. I'm not sure what's going on or how long this is supposed to last. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do or ask when I finally get through to them?

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat last year. The waiting period can be a real pain. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes they have issues they don't tell you about unless you ask.

I've been trying to call but can't get through. It's so frustrating! 😤 How long did your waiting period last?

Mine lasted about 5 weeks total. It sucked, but hang in there! Make sure all your paperwork is in order. Sometimes that can hold things up.

5 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional info there that they don't send notifications for. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? 🤔

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your paperwork is submitted correctly 2. Log into your online account and look for any pending tasks or messages 3. If you can't find anything there, you NEED to speak with an agent 4. When you do get through, ask these questions: - Is there a specific reason for the delay? - Are there any unresolved issues with my claim? - What's the expected timeline for my payments to start? - Is there anything I can do to expedite the process? Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every interaction, including dates and names of who you spoke to. It can help if you need to escalate later.

The disability system is a joke. I've been fighting with them for months. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it. 🍀
