Need EDD appeal phone number for Riverside County - urgent!

I just got my disqualification letter yesterday and need to file an appeal ASAP. The form says I need to mail it in, but I want to talk to someone first to make sure I'm doing it right. Does anyone have a specific appeal phone number for EDD in Riverside County? I tried the main EDD number (1-800-300-5616) but got stuck in that automated loop for 45 minutes before it hung up on me. My benefits stopped 2 weeks ago and I'm getting really worried about paying rent. Any help appreciated!!

there's no special number for appeals in riverside, its all the same statewide EDD numbers. u have to mail in the appeal form to the address on ur disqualification notice. Don't wait for a phone call or ull miss the deadline!!!

Thanks for responding. I was hoping there might be a direct line. The letter says I only have 30 days to appeal and I'm already 5 days in. So stressful!

The Appeal office phone number is actually different from the regular EDD number. For Riverside County, appeals are handled by the Inland Empire Appeals Office. Their direct number is (951) 782-4730, though honestly they rarely answer. Make sure you mail your appeal form (DE 1000M) BEFORE calling - the deadline to submit is strict and the appeal must be postmarked within 30 days of your disqualification notice date. When filling out the form, be very specific about why you disagree with their determination. Include any supporting documents that prove your case. Keep copies of everything and send it certified mail so you have proof it was submitted on time.

THANK YOU! This is exactly what I needed. I'll mail the form today and then try calling that number. Do you know if I should include copies of my time cards in the appeal package? That's the main issue - they said I didn't report some hours but I definitely did.

Yes, absolutely include copies of your time cards! Any documentation that supports your position should be included. If you have screenshots of your certification pages where you reported the hours, include those too. The more evidence, the better. Just make sure to keep copies of everything for yourself.

I went through an appeal last month and let me tell you its IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone by phone. I spent literally 3 weeks trying every single day. Even tried that Inland office number and it just rings forever. I ended up just filling out the appeal form super detailed, sending in all my documents, and mailing it certified. Then I waited... and waited... and got a hearing date letter about 4 weeks later. The whole process is SO SLOW. But my appeal was approved in the end! Just make sure your form is crystal clear about why they're wrong.

How long did your entire appeal process take from when you mailed the form until you got a decision?? I'm in week 7 of waiting and going crazy!!

It took almost 3 months total from when I mailed the form until I got my decision letter. Then another 2 weeks after that for the backpay to actually show up. The system is soooo backed up right now.

I know this sounds crazy but I was in the exact same situation last month trying to reach EDD about my appeal. I tried for days with no luck. Then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes. It's not free but it worked when nothing else did. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Their website is claimyr.com - basically they call EDD for you and then connect you when they get through. The rep I talked to was able to give me specific advice about my appeal and even noted in my account that I was appealing. Saved me tons of stress.

It's definitely legit - they just have a system that keeps redialing until they get through. Was worth it for me after spending days trying to get through on my own. But definitely mail your appeal form first regardless - that phone call is just to get clarification.

Listen carefully!!! Mail your DE 1000M appeal form IMMEDIATELY via certified mail with return receipt. Do NOT wait to talk to someone first!!! The 30-day deadline is STRICT and judges rarely make exceptions. I work in HR and help employees with EDD issues. Here's what happens with appeals in Riverside: 1. Your appeal goes to the Inland Empire Appeals Office 2. You'll get a confirmation letter in about 2 weeks 3. Then an actual hearing date 4-8 weeks later (phone hearings now) 4. The judge will call you at the scheduled time The whole process takes 2-3 months currently. While waiting, continue certifying for benefits every two weeks even though you won't get paid until/unless you win the appeal. If you miss certifications, you'll never get that money even if you win.

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I'm heading to the post office today to mail it certified. Should I continue looking for work and reporting it while my appeal is pending? The disqualification was because they said I didn't report some hours for a part-time job, but I'm positive I did.

Yes, ABSOLUTELY continue your work search and keep detailed records of everywhere you apply. And yes, continue to report ANY work and earnings accurately. In fact, keeping perfect records now will help show the judge that you're being diligent and honest. For your specific case about unreported hours - gather any evidence you have that you did report them. Screenshots of your certification pages, confirmation numbers, copies of your timesheet submissions, emails - anything that shows you tried to report correctly.

That's exactly what they want! Don't give up OP! The appeal process is a pain but if you're in the right it's worth fighting. I got back almost $7,400 when my appeal was approved.

Update: I mailed my appeal form with all my timecards and screenshots today via certified mail. Still couldn't get through on the phone, but at least the appeal is on its way. Thanks everyone for your help! I'll post again when I hear something back.
