To all those having trouble reaching a human at California Unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

I'm dealing with a similar issue - got the "Maximum Benefits Paid" message even though I thought I still had weeks left on my claim. From what I've researched, this usually happens when you've exhausted your regular UI benefits but might still be eligible for federal extensions. The system doesn't automatically roll you over to extensions - you often have to call EDD to get it sorted out. It's frustrating because the message makes it sound like you're completely done, but that's not always the case. Definitely try calling using those shortcuts others shared, or check your UI Online account to see if there are any applications you need to file.
