I had an EDD interview on 4/18/25 to explain why I was terminated for poor performance. However, I now have a second interview on 5/8/25, despite the interviewer saying a decision would be made within 10 business days. What is causing this to happen? I certified for benefits and all are in Pending.

Having a second interview scheduled isn't uncommon with EDD, though it can definitely be confusing when you were told a decision would come within 10 days. There are a few possible reasons this is happening: The interviewer might need additional information they didn't collect during the first interview to make a proper determination about your case. Sometimes they need to verify specific details about your termination. EDD could be investigating different aspects of your claim. The first interview might have focused on your separation from work, while this one could be about another eligibility issue entirely. Your employer might have provided information after your interview that EDD needs to discuss with you to ensure they have your side of the story. Since all your weeks are pending, this suggests they're waiting for this interview to resolve before processing payments. For the upcoming interview, I'd recommend: - Prepare any additional documentation about your termination - Review your notes from the first interview - Be ready to answer similar questions with consistent answers You could also try calling EDD directly to ask about the purpose of this second interview, though getting through can be challenging. Checking your UI Online account might show notifications or messages that provide more context.
