How to check remaining EDD claim balance on UI Online account?
I've been on unemployment for about 2 months now and I'm trying to budget for the next few months. I need to figure out how much money I have left in my EDD claim balance but can't seem to find it anywhere on the website. I've clicked through practically every tab and menu option in my UI Online account but haven't found anything showing my remaining balance. Am I missing something obvious? Where exactly do I need to look to see how much money is left in my claim? Thanks for any help!

The claim balance should be right on your UI Online homepage after you log in. Look for a section called 'Claim Summary' - it usually appears on the right side of the screen. It'll show your weekly benefit amount and the total claim balance remaining. If you don't see it there, try clicking on the 'Claim History' tab and then look at your most recent payment - the remaining balance should show there too.

•Thank you! I feel so stupid now. Just checked and it's right there on the homepage like you said. I think I was so focused on looking for a specific 'balance' section that I completely overlooked the Claim Summary box. Really appreciate the help!

•The EDD website is honestly the worst designed government site I've ever used, and I've used MANY. It's like they deliberately hide the most important information behind random clicks and non-intuitive menu options. And it always seems to crash or have "maintenance" during peak certification periods! 🙄

To find your claim balance on UI Online: 1. Log in to your UI Online account 2. On the homepage, look for the 'Claim Summary' section 3. You'll see your weekly benefit amount and remaining balance If you don't see it there: 1. Click on 'Claim History' 2. Find your most recent payment 3. Your remaining balance should be displayed If you still can't find it, your claim may have special circumstances. In that case, you might need to speak with an EDD representative directly. Hope this helps!

•Thx for the breakdown! Quick question - is the claim balance showing the full amount for the whole benefit year, or just what's left until my next review or something? My benefit year ends in October and I'm trying to figure out if what I'm seeing is all I have left until then.

To answer the question about the claim balance - it shows the total remaining benefits available on your current claim. The maximum benefit amount is typically 26 times your weekly benefit amount (for a standard UI claim), and it decreases each time you receive a payment. Once it reaches zero, your benefits are exhausted even if your benefit year hasn't ended yet.

•This is important to note! I made the mistake of thinking my benefits would last the entire year no matter what. When my claim balance hit zero after about 6 months, I was shocked. Just because your benefit year is 12 months doesn't mean you'll get paid for 12 months. Plan accordingly!

I had this EXACT same problem last month! The UI Online site is so frustrating sometimes. BTW if you're having ANY issues with your claim and need to talk to someone at EDD (which I always seem to), I found this service called Claimyr that actually gets you through to an EDD agent without the endless calling and hanging up. It saved me hours of frustration when my payments got stuck. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Just sharing because I know how impossible it feels to get actual help sometimes!

•Is this legit? I'm always suspicious of services claiming to help with EDD because there are so many scams out there. Has anyone else used this?

also if the website is being weird you can sometimes check your balance on the telecert phone line. just call the regular edd number and follow the prompts.

•That's a great backup option, thanks! I'll keep that in mind if the website gives me trouble again. Do you happen to know the telecert phone number offhand?

I think they changed where the balance shows last time they updated the UI Online site... My cousin had the same problem after the update but its back on the home page now I think. EDD is always making things more complicated lol

Just to add some additional information: If you want to track your claim balance more carefully, I recommend taking screenshots or keeping a spreadsheet. The EDD system sometimes has glitches where the balance may temporarily display incorrectly after certifications. By keeping your own records, you'll have a better idea of what your true remaining balance should be. Also, be aware that your claim balance may adjust if: - You report partial earnings that reduce your weekly payment - There's an overpayment adjustment - Your benefit amount is recalculated for any reason Keeping track yourself gives you more visibility and control over your unemployment budget planning.

•That's really smart advice. I'm going to start tracking everything in a spreadsheet. I had no idea the system could show incorrect balances sometimes. Thanks for the tip!

Pro tip for everyone struggling with the EDD website - if you're on mobile, try switching to desktop view or using a computer instead. The mobile version of UI Online is even more confusing and sometimes doesn't display all the information correctly. I couldn't find my claim balance on my phone for the longest time, but it showed up fine when I logged in from my laptop. The desktop version is still terrible, but at least it's consistently terrible lol.

•This is such a good point! I've been trying to manage everything from my phone and it's been a nightmare. The mobile site is missing so many features and the layout is completely different. I'll definitely try logging in from a computer next time. Thanks for the tip - "consistently terrible" made me laugh because that's so accurate! 😂

Another thing to keep in mind - if you're getting close to exhausting your regular UI benefits, you might want to look into whether you qualify for extended benefits or other programs. I learned this the hard way when my claim balance hit zero and I had no idea there were other options available. The EDD website doesn't really make it clear what happens next, so it's worth researching early rather than waiting until you're down to your last few weeks of benefits.

•This is really helpful advice! I'm getting worried because I can see my balance is getting low and I had no idea there might be other programs available. Do you know where I can find information about these extended benefits? Is it something that automatically kicks in or do I need to apply separately? I really don't want to be caught off guard when my regular benefits run out.
