EDD flagged claim due to employer mailing address - how to update?
I'm in a really frustrating situation right now. My EDD claim was just flagged because of some issue with my employer's mailing address. Apparently EDD needs to mail verification to my employer but they have the wrong address on file! My claim is basically stuck until this gets fixed. Does anyone know if there's a way to update employer information through UI Online? I've been looking everywhere in my account but can't find any option to edit employer details after the claim is submitted. I tried calling the regular EDD number (1-800-300-5616) but got the dreaded "we're receiving too many calls" message and it hung up on me. Is there a specific number I should call to handle address corrections? This is getting urgent as I'm now on week 3 with no benefits because of this stupid mailing issue.

Unfortunately, you can't update employer information online once a claim is filed. This is actually a common issue that trips people up. You'll need to speak with an EDD representative by phone to make the correction. Try calling right when they open at 8am - that's usually when you have the best chance of getting through. The number you've been calling is correct, but their phone system is notoriously overwhelmed.

•Thanks for confirming. That's what I was afraid of... I've been trying for days at different times with no luck. It's such a simple fix but impossible to reach anyone!

I had almost the same issue in February! EDD had my employer's old address from when they moved offices last year. Total nightmare getting it fixed but my claim eventually went through.

•That gives me some hope at least. How long did it take to get resolved once you reached someone?

It took about 10 days after I finally got through to someone. The rep updated it on the spot but said the system takes time to process changes and resend mail to employers. So frustrating!

Have u tried using Claimyr to get through to EDD? I was in a similar situation where I needed to update some info on my claim and couldn't get through for WEEKS. Then I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km It worked for me when nothing else did. The rep was able to update my employer's info right away once I got through.

•Does that actually work? I'm skeptical of anything that claims to get through to EDD easily...

I want to add some technical clarification here since there's some confusion about employer information updates. When a claim is flagged for employer verification/address issues, you specifically need to speak with someone in the Claims Processing department, not just any EDD representative. When you call the main number, make sure to clearly state this is about "employer address correction for a flagged claim" when you reach a representative. Also, while you're waiting to get this resolved, continue certifying for benefits every two weeks. Once the address issue is fixed, you'll receive all backdated payments for weeks you properly certified, assuming you meet all other eligibility requirements. Don't skip certifications or you might lose those weeks of benefits even after the address issue is fixed.

•Thank you so much for this specific information! I've been certifying regularly but wasn't sure if I needed a specialist department. I'll make sure to mention "employer address correction for a flagged claim" if I ever get through.

EDD is such a joke!!! Theyve got billions of $$$ but cant figure out how to hire enough people to answer the damn phones!!!! Im going on MONTH TWO of trying to fix a simple address problem with them. good luck getting ANY help

•Actually, their funding is tied to unemployment rates - when rates are higher, they get more funding to hire staff. Current rates are relatively low, so they're operating with minimal staff. Not defending the poor service, just explaining why it's happening.

Update: I tried the Claimyr service that someone mentioned above, and I actually got through to EDD this morning! The rep was able to update my employer's address in the system. She said I should see movement on my claim within 7-10 business days as they re-send the verification to the correct address. I'll post again when I see any changes to my claim status. Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

•That's great news! Thanks for updating us. The 7-10 day timeframe sounds about right based on my experience. Just keep certifying on schedule and hopefully your payments will start processing soon.

•That's because payment notifications and claim documents use different systems. Your payment address might be updated, but the claims correspondence system might not have the update. Call and specifically ask them to check that all systems have your current address.

Final update: My claim finally switched from "pending" to "paid" today! It took exactly 8 business days after getting my employer's address corrected. All my back payments were processed at once. Such a relief after weeks of stress over such a simple issue. If anyone else has this problem, definitely try to reach EDD by phone as soon as possible - the online system really can't help with this specific issue.

•Congrats! Glad it worked out for you. The EDD system has so many weird technical limitations that can only be fixed by talking to a human.

Thanks for sharing this entire journey, Dylan! Your posts will definitely help others going through the same frustrating situation. It's crazy that such a simple address correction requires jumping through so many hoops, but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. The 8-day turnaround after getting through to them seems pretty consistent with what others have reported. Hopefully EDD will eventually add basic employer info editing to the online portal - it would save everyone so much time and stress!

•Absolutely agree! Dylan's experience is really valuable for anyone dealing with this issue. I just went through something similar last month and wish I had found this thread earlier. The fact that you can't update basic employer info online is such an obvious oversight in the system design. Hopefully more success stories like this will encourage people to keep trying instead of giving up when they hit that phone system wall.

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar employer address issue right now - my claim has been pending for 2 weeks because EDD has my previous employer's old office address from before they relocated. I've been calling daily with no luck getting through, but seeing Dylan's success story gives me hope. I'm definitely going to try calling right at 8am tomorrow and mention specifically that it's for "employer address correction for a flagged claim" like Miguel suggested. It's so frustrating that this can't be fixed online, but at least now I know what to expect for timing once I do get through. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

•Good luck with your call tomorrow morning, Evelyn! The 8am strategy really does seem to work better. One thing I'd add - when you do get through, ask the rep to confirm they've updated the address in all relevant systems, not just the main claims system. Sometimes the address gets updated in one place but not others, which can cause delays later on. Also make sure to get a confirmation number or case reference for the change if they provide one. Rooting for you to get this resolved quickly!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who works in HR and deals with EDD employer verifications regularly. When EDD sends verification requests to the wrong address, it creates a backlog on both ends - we employers never receive the forms to respond, and claimants get stuck in limbo. If you know your employer's current correct address, you might also try reaching out to your former employer's HR department directly to let them know EDD might be trying to contact them at an old address. Sometimes they can proactively call EDD to provide the correct information, which can speed up the process. Obviously this only works if you're on decent terms with your former employer, but it's worth considering as an additional avenue while you're trying to get through to EDD yourself.
