EDD: No benefits for 6 weeks, no communication. What to do?
I've been waiting for my unemployment benefits for 6 weeks now and haven't received a dime. No letters, no notices, nothing from EDD. It's like I'm in a black hole. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare, but sometimes you gotta keep trying.

I've tried calling so many times, but I always get the 'we're too busy' message. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through that way.

6 weeks? That's rough, buddy. Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there's info there that they don't send in the mail.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about 2 hours.

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Beats wasting hours trying to call myself.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? Sometimes they can help push things through.

I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just Google '[your city] assembly member'. They usually have a contact form on their website for constituent services.

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Check your online account daily. Sometimes they need additional info but don't tell you. 3. Try calling at off-peak hours. Early morning or late afternoon can work. 4. If you can't get through, consider using a paid service like Claimyr (as mentioned in another comment). 5. Reach out to your local assembly member or state senator. They can often expedite claims. 6. Join Facebook groups for EDD claimants. Sometimes they have insider tips. 7. If all else fails, file a complaint with the Department of Labor. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is broken, but you'll get your money eventually.

Have you checked if your claim is under review? Sometimes they flag claims for identity verification and don't tell you.

Not to be that guy, but have you made sure you're certifying every two weeks? I know someone who thought they were all set but forgot to certify and that's why they weren't getting paid.

Yeah, I've been certifying religiously. That's not the issue, unfortunately. 馃槙
