EDD unemployment payment delayed over a week - No communication, need advice

I haven't gotten my unemployment payment in over a week now. Anyone else dealing with this? I've been checking my account every day, but nothing's showing up. I haven't received any notices or letters from EDD about why the payment is delayed. It's really stressing me out because I've got bills to pay. Has anyone had luck getting through to EDD to ask about missing payments? Any advice on what I should do or say when I finally get someone on the phone?

Connor O'Neill

Ugh, EDD is such a mess. I swear they're doing this on purpose to make us give up. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho, it's like winning the lottery

For real, I've been calling non-stop for days. Either busy signal or get hung up on after waiting for hours. It's ridiculous!

I heard they hired a bunch of new people. Maybe itll get better soon? 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

I feel you, the lack of communication from EDD is the most frustrating part. Have you considered reaching out to local assistance programs for immediate support?

Has anyone tried the UI Online messaging system? Sometimes you can get a response there faster than calling

I tried that last month. Took them 3 weeks to reply and they just told me to call 🙄

It seems hit or miss. Maybe try sending a follow-up message if you haven't heard back in a week?

Here's what you need to do when you finally get through to EDD: 1. Stay calm and be polite. The person on the other end isn't responsible for the delay. 2. Clearly explain that you haven't received your payment in over a week. 3. Ask specific questions: - Why hasn't the payment been processed? - Are there any issues with your claim? - Is there any additional information they need from you? 4. Get the name and ID number of the representative you speak with. 5. Ask for a timeframe for when you can expect the payment. 6. If they can't resolve it immediately, ask about escalation procedures. 7. Take detailed notes during the call. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up if you don't get a satisfactory answer the first time. Good luck!

Adding: If you have a specific issue, like a technical glitch, try to get a direct contact number of someone who can address it.

Friendly reminder to everyone: document EVERYTHING. Save screenshots, write down call times and rep names. You never know when you might need it

This is crucial. It can all be helpful if you need to escalate the issue further or for any future reference.

Humor aside, it really highlights how desperate and frustrated everyone feels right now.

You're not alone. The system is overwhelmed but keep trying. There's always hope they improve their processes.

Regarding Claimyr, has anyone else used it and had a different experience? I'm curious if it's been consistent with helping folks reach EDD.

I used it once and it worked, but I have heard others say it didn't help them. Seems like a mixed bag but worth a shot if you're at wit's end.

Maybe try reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up with EDD

This actually worked for me! Took about 2 weeks but my assemblymember's office got it sorted

Sometimes they might send letters instead of emails, so keep an eye on your mailbox too.
