EDD Direct Deposit showing paid but no money in account - payment delays?

Really frustrated right now! My EDD claim history shows my certification for the last two weeks as 'paid' but there's absolutely NOTHING in my bank account yet. I checked the payment activity tab and weirdly don't see any payment listed for end of January period at all, even though claim history says paid. I've been on unemployment since November and direct deposit has worked perfectly until now - money usually hits my account within 24 hours of certification. Has anyone experienced this recently? Is there some kind of delay with EDD direct deposits right now or should I be worried something's wrong with my claim?

ya this happens sometimes, edd systems r slow. sometimes takes 2-3 business days even tho they say paid. check again tomorrw

Thanks but the weird part is it's always been next-day for me without fail. And why wouldn't it show under Payment Activity tab if it's actually processing? That's what's freaking me out.

This sounds like the system glitch that happened to me last month. EDD's payment processing system and their claim history system don't always sync properly. Here's what might be happening: 1. Your certification was approved (showing "paid" in claim history) 2. But the actual payment processing might be delayed (not showing in payment activity) If your Bank of America EDD card is still active, check there as well. Sometimes EDD reverts to card payments if there's an issue with direct deposit information. If nothing shows up after 3 business days, you should contact EDD directly to check if there's a problem with your payment method settings.

I don't have the BofA card anymore since I switched to direct deposit months ago. Should I check my UI Online settings to see if something changed with my bank info? It's just weird because nothing has changed on my end.

THE SAME EXACT THING just happened to me!!! Certified Sunday, shows PAID in history but nothing in payment activity and NO MONEY in my account!! This is day 3 now and I'm FREAKING OUT because rent is due and I have NO OTHER INCOME!!! Did yours finally come through? I'm seriously panicking right now!!

0 coins

Deep breaths. I had this happen twice during my claim. Both times the money showed up, just later than usual. EDD doesn't tell you but they do random payment reviews sometimes.

I've seen this happen when EDD is doing verification checks on claims. If your identity verification (ID.me) is coming up for renewal or they're doing a quarterly review of your claim, payments can show as paid but then get delayed in actually processing. Check these things: 1. Is your mailing address up to date in UI Online? 2. Have you received any text messages or emails from EDD you may have missed? 3. Did you report any income or special circumstances on this certification? If the money doesn't show up by day 5, you definitely need to contact EDD. The challenge is getting through to someone who can actually help with payment issues, not just the general support line.

0 coins

Everything is current, no notifications, and I didn't report anything different on this certification. What's the best way to reach someone who can actually help with payment issues? The regular number always seems to route to general support who can't see payment details.

I had this happen last week! I finally managed to speak with an EDD rep by using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It basically gets you through the phone system so you don't have to keep calling and hitting redial. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Turns out in my case there was a payment flag on my account because my bank had recently updated their routing number and it triggered their fraud prevention system. The rep was able to clear it while I was on the phone and my money arrived the next day. Definitely worth getting through to an actual payment specialist rather than just waiting and hoping.

Did they make you verify any info before clearing the flag?? I'm worried my identity might be flagged or something since I got a new phone last month?

0 coins

They just asked standard verification questions - last 4 of SSN, address, employment history. Nothing unusual. The rep said these payment delays are happening more frequently right now - something about them updating their payment processing system in January 2025. Worth calling to check if that's what's happening in your case.

this EXACT thing happened to me last year!! so annoying!! i had to wait 8 days and then suddenly money appeared with no explanation. edd is the worst with communication seriously

0 coins

8 days?! That's ridiculous. I can't wait that long. Did you ever find out what caused the delay?

nope! they just said "system processing delay" whatever that means lol. but i did get all my money eventually so try not to stress too much

Update us when your payment comes through! These data points help everyone understand what's happening with the system. EDD is notorious for not announcing when they're doing system maintenance or updates that affect payment processing. Also, for anyone facing this issue: take screenshots of both your claim history showing "paid" and your payment activity tab. This documentation can be crucial if you need to escalate the issue later.

Great advice about the screenshots - just did that. I'm going to try calling them tomorrow if nothing changes. I'll update here when I get paid or find out what happened. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance that I'm not alone in this!

One last thing to check - log out completely from UI Online and log back in. Sometimes the payment activity doesn't update on your screen until you do a fresh login. I've had situations where the money was actually in my account but the UI Online payment activity hadn't updated to show it yet.

UPDATE: You were right! I logged out and back in, and now I see the payment processing in the Payment Activity tab! It shows it was issued yesterday with expected deposit tomorrow. Huge relief! Such a weird glitch that it wasn't showing up before. Thanks everyone for the help!

This is such a helpful tip! I've been dealing with EDD for months and never thought to try logging out and back in when things don't show up properly. Their system definitely has display issues - I've noticed other sections sometimes don't refresh correctly either. Bookmarking this thread for future reference. Glad everything worked out for both of you!

This is exactly why I always recommend people check their UI Online status with a fresh login when payments seem delayed! EDD's system has so many display glitches that can cause unnecessary panic. I've been on unemployment twice over the past few years and learned this trick the hard way after spending hours on hold with customer service only to find out the payment was processing normally - it just wasn't showing up on my screen properly. For anyone else experiencing this issue: try clearing your browser cache too, not just logging out and back in. Sometimes cached data can prevent updated payment information from displaying correctly. Also, if you're using a mobile device, try switching to desktop or vice versa - I've noticed the mobile version of UI Online sometimes lags behind the desktop version in showing payment updates. Really glad this got resolved for everyone! These kinds of posts are so valuable for the community because EDD's communication about system issues is practically non-existent.

Thanks for the additional tips about clearing browser cache and switching between mobile/desktop! I'm new to dealing with EDD and honestly had no idea their system was this glitchy. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been so reassuring - I was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with my claim when my payment didn't show up immediately like usual. It's crazy that EDD doesn't warn people about these display issues or give any heads up when they're doing system updates. This community is honestly more helpful than their actual customer service!

New to this community but wanted to share my recent experience since it seems relevant! I had the exact same issue two weeks ago - claim history showed "paid" but nothing in payment activity and no money in my account. Like others mentioned, I tried logging out and back in multiple times but it didn't help initially. What finally worked for me was waiting until the next business day and then logging in from a completely different device (switched from my phone to my laptop). Suddenly everything showed up correctly - the payment was actually processed the day before but just wasn't displaying properly on my phone. Got my deposit the following morning as usual. I think EDD's system has some serious browser/device compatibility issues that they don't acknowledge. Now I always double-check payment status on both mobile and desktop before panicking. It's ridiculous that we have to work around their technical problems like this, but at least there are usually simple solutions once you know the tricks! Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here - this thread would have saved me hours of stress if I'd found it earlier.

This is so helpful to know about the device compatibility issues! I'm pretty new to unemployment benefits and had no idea EDD's system was this unreliable. It's honestly scary how a simple display glitch can make you think your payments are completely messed up. I'm definitely going to bookmark this thread and remember to try different devices/browsers before freaking out if this happens to me. Thanks for sharing your experience - it's really reassuring to know there are usually simple fixes for these technical problems even though EDD doesn't tell us about them!

Just want to add another data point here - I experienced this exact same issue about 3 weeks ago and it turned out to be related to EDD doing some kind of backend system maintenance they never announced. My payment showed "paid" in claim history but didn't appear in payment activity for almost 4 days. What's frustrating is that EDD seems to run these system updates randomly without any notice to claimants. I only found out what was happening when I finally got through to a rep who mentioned they'd been getting a lot of calls about payment display issues that week. The good news is that in every case I've heard about (including my own), the money eventually comes through - it's usually just a display/processing delay rather than an actual problem with your claim. But I totally understand the panic when you're depending on those payments and suddenly the system is acting weird with no explanation. For what it's worth, I've started checking my payment status on both the EDD website and my bank's mobile app whenever I certify, just to catch any discrepancies early. It's annoying that we have to do this, but it helps avoid the stress of wondering what's going on.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm dealing with the same thing right now - certified on Monday, shows paid but nothing in payment activity yet and it's day 3. Your point about checking both EDD and bank app is smart, I've just been obsessively refreshing the EDD site. It's so frustrating that they don't give any heads up about these system updates - how are we supposed to know if it's a normal delay or if something is actually wrong with our claim? Thanks for sharing your experience, it really helps knowing this seems to be a common issue lately rather than something specific to my account.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now and this thread has been a lifesaver! Been on EDD since December and this is the first time I've had a payment show "paid" in claim history but not appear in payment activity. It's day 2 for me and I was starting to panic thinking something was wrong with my claim. Reading everyone's experiences here is so reassuring - sounds like this is becoming a pretty common issue with their system lately. I'm going to try the logout/login trick and check from my desktop instead of just my phone. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to troubleshoot EDD's technical problems ourselves, but I'm grateful this community exists to share these workarounds. Will definitely update if the payment shows up or if I learn anything new from calling them. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - you probably saved me hours of stress and panic!

Welcome to the community! You're definitely not alone - this seems to be happening to a lot of people lately. I just went through something similar last month and the logout/login trick really does work most of the time. Also try clearing your browser cache if the fresh login doesn't show your payment right away. One thing I learned from this thread is to always check from both mobile and desktop since they sometimes show different info. EDD's system is frustratingly unreliable but the good news is everyone here eventually got their money, just with annoying delays. Definitely keep us updated on what happens - these shared experiences really help the whole community figure out when it's just a system glitch vs something that actually needs EDD intervention!

I'm experiencing this exact same issue right now! Certified yesterday and it shows "paid" in my claim history but absolutely nothing in payment activity. This is my first time dealing with this kind of delay since I started my claim in October - usually my payments show up in both places within hours of certifying. Reading through everyone's experiences here is incredibly helpful and reassuring. I had no idea EDD's system had so many display glitches and compatibility issues. I'm going to try the logout/login trick and check from my computer instead of just my phone app. It's frustrating that we have to become tech support for their broken system, but at least now I know this is a common issue and not something wrong with my specific claim. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - this community is honestly more reliable than EDD's own customer service! I'll update once my payment shows up properly.

Hey there! Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus - you're definitely not alone in this! I had the exact same panic when this happened to me a few weeks ago. The logout/login trick worked for me too, but I also found that sometimes it takes a few tries or waiting an hour between attempts. One thing I noticed is that EDD's system seems to have the most display issues on weekends and Monday mornings - probably higher traffic or something. If you certified yesterday and it's still not showing up after trying different devices/browsers, don't stress too much. From reading all these experiences, it seems like 2-4 days is pretty normal for these weird system delays lately. Definitely keep us posted on when it resolves! These community updates are so much more helpful than anything EDD provides officially.

I'm dealing with this EXACT same issue right now! Certified on Tuesday, claim history shows "paid" but nothing in payment activity and no money in my account yet. This is day 3 and I was starting to really worry something was wrong with my claim since I've been getting payments like clockwork since September. This thread has been such a relief to find - had no idea this was such a common problem lately! I'm going to try the logout/login trick and switch between mobile/desktop like everyone suggested. It's honestly insane that EDD's system is this glitchy and they don't warn people about it. Reading everyone's experiences here gives me hope that it's just another system delay rather than an actual issue with my claim. Will definitely try calling if nothing shows up by tomorrow, but at least now I know what questions to ask and what to look for. Thanks to everyone for sharing - this community is way more helpful than EDD's actual support!

Hey Summer! You're definitely in good company with this issue - seems like EDD's system has been particularly glitchy lately with payment displays. Day 3 is still within the normal range based on what everyone here has experienced. I'd definitely try the logout/login trick first, and if that doesn't work, clear your browser cache and try from a different device. Someone mentioned earlier that weekdays tend to have fewer display issues than weekends, so hopefully checking again today will show your payment processing properly. The fact that your claim history shows "paid" is actually a really good sign - it means EDD approved your certification and the payment is in the system somewhere, just not displaying correctly in payment activity. From all the experiences shared here, it seems like these display delays rarely indicate actual problems with the claim itself. Keep us posted on what happens! These updates really help everyone understand the patterns with EDD's system issues.

Just wanted to jump in and say this thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm currently experiencing this exact same issue - certified Monday and it shows "paid" in claim history but nothing in payment activity yet. It's day 4 now and I was getting really anxious until I found this discussion. I tried the logout/login trick that several people mentioned and it worked! My payment is now showing as issued yesterday with an expected deposit date of tomorrow. It's amazing how such a simple fix can resolve what seemed like a major problem. What's really frustrating is that this appears to be such a widespread issue with EDD's system, yet they provide zero communication about these technical glitches. Reading through everyone's experiences here, it's clear that payment display delays are becoming increasingly common, especially over the past few months. For anyone else dealing with this - definitely try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in from both mobile and desktop. Also check at different times of day since the system seems to update inconsistently. Don't panic if it takes a few days to show up properly - from what I'm seeing here, the money almost always comes through eventually, it's just their display system that's unreliable. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions - this community is honestly more reliable than EDD's official support!
