PFL claim filed in November, no updates or payments. EDD ghosting me?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL claim. I filed it back in November and still haven't heard anything about whether it was accepted or not. No payment method confirmation, no payments, nothing. It's been way longer than the website says it should take. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm trying to figure out how to check if my claim was even processed and when I might see that first payment. This waiting game is driving me nuts!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD is a total mess right now. I had to wait almost 3 months for my first payment! Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare to get through, but it's probably your best bet at this point.

3 months?! That's insane. I've tried calling but keep getting the 'all lines are busy' message. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, the second they open. Set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I ever got through.

Or try calling at like 4:55pm. Sometimes they answer right before closing 🤷♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but yeah, it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

I get it, but tbh I'd rather pay $20 than waste another day trying to get through. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD every day. Use the trick of calling right at 8:00 AM or just before closing. 2. While you're waiting to get through, send a message through your UI Online account. Sometimes they respond faster that way. 3. If you still don't hear back after a week, contact your local assembly member's office. They can often help push things through. 4. Make sure you've submitted all required documents. Sometimes claims get held up because of missing info. 5. Double-check that your employer submitted their portion of the claim. If they haven't, that could be the holdup. 6. If all else fails, file a complaint with the EDD. It's a last resort, but it can light a fire under them. Hang in there! The system is overwhelmed, but persistence pays off. Good luck!

I'm in the exact same boat. Filed in October, radio silence since then. This whole system is a joke. How are we supposed to survive while they sit on our claims? 😤

Have either of you tried reaching out to your state rep? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

Quick question - did you get any kind of confirmation number or email when you first filed? Might be worth double-checking that your claim actually went through. The EDD website can be glitchy af sometimes.

Yeah, I got a confirmation email. That's why I'm so confused about the silence since then.

Oof, that sucks. Definitely sounds like it's on their end then. Keep pushing!

Not to be that guy, but are you sure you qualified for PFL? The requirements can be kinda tricky. Might be worth double-checking just in case.

Pretty sure I do, but I'll double-check. Thanks for the suggestion!

Has anyone had luck with the EDD's social media accounts? I've seen some people say they got responses that way.

Protip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every email, every letter. You never know when you might need to prove you've been trying to resolve this. CYA always!
