EDD PFL: How to reach English-speaking agent for Paid Family Leave claim?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to file for paid family leave and I'm having trouble getting through to an English-speaking agent. Has anyone else had this issue? I've been trying to reach EDD PFL but keep getting redirected to Spanish-speaking lines. Any advice on how to get connected to the right department?

I found a way to solve EDD PFL English agent issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oagD-PA0I9k

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had the same issue last month when I was trying to file my claim. It's so frustrating when you can't even get past the language barrier to explain your situation. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that helps.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. What time do they usually open?

I think they open at 8 AM, but double-check on their website to be sure. Good luck!

Pro tip: call at 7:59 and start going through the menu. You might get lucky and be first in line when an agent logs in at 8 sharp. 👍

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Seems kinda sketchy to pay for something that should be free.

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it for me, but I understand it might not be for everyone.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

They don't guarantee it, but in my experience, it worked great. You just enter your phone number, and they call you back when they've got an agent on the line. Saved me from listening to that awful hold music for hours lol

Have you tried using the online portal instead? Sometimes it's easier to submit everything electronically and avoid the phone hassle altogether.

omg the EDD is such a mess rn 🤦♀️ I've been trying to sort out my claim for weeks and keep getting bounced around. It's like they don't want us to get our benefits or smthn

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why is it still so hard to get basic help?

Conspiracy theory: they make it difficult on purpose so fewer people claim benefits. 👀

Here's what worked for me when filing for PFL: 1. Call early in the morning, like others suggested. 2. If you get the Spanish line, say "English" clearly and you should be transferred. 3. Have all your docs ready before calling (claim number, employer info, etc.) 4. Be patient and polite with the agents - they're swamped too. 5. If all else fails, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes expedite things. Hope this helps! The process is a pain, but hang in there. 💪

The assembly member tip is gold! They helped me sort out a mess with my claim last year. Definitely worth a shot if you're stuck.

anyone else think its wild that we gotta jump through so many hoops just to access a benefit we've paid into? smh

For real tho. It's like trying to break into Fort Knox just to get what's rightfully ours. 🙄

Quick question - are you trying to file a new claim or follow up on an existing one? The process can be slightly different depending on your situation.

I'm trying to file a new claim. Does that change the approach I should take?

Yep, for new claims, definitely try the online portal first if you haven't already. It's usually faster and you can upload docs directly. If you still need to talk to someone, follow the phone tips others have shared. Good luck!
