EDD PFL Baby Bonding payment approved but BofA card never arrived - need direct contact number!

I'm at my wits end trying to access my baby bonding benefits! My PFL claim was approved almost a month ago (got the approval letter on May 7th) but I STILL haven't received the BofA debit card they supposedly sent. My baby is now 7 weeks old and we're struggling to cover expenses while on unpaid leave. Every time I call the customer service number listed in the PFL docs, the automated system asks me to enter my card number - which I obviously don't have because THAT'S THE WHOLE PROBLEM! It's a ridiculous loop that I can't get out of. Has anyone had this issue? Is there a special number to call when you never received your card? Do I contact BofA directly or EDD? I've tried the general EDD number but after waiting 45+ minutes, I got disconnected. I've got a fussy newborn and can't spend hours on hold only to get nowhere. This is beyond frustrating and we're burning through our savings fast. Help!

omg same thing happened to me back in january!! took FOREVER to get it sorted. you need to call bank of america EDD card services directly at 1-866-692-9374. they can tell you if the card was actually mailed and can send a replacement. EDD wont help with this cuz its the bank that handles the cards.

Thank you!!! I'll try that number right now. Did they charge you for a replacement card? And how long did it take to arrive after you called?

Be carefull with the BofA number, make absolutely sure your calling the right one. There's a lot of scammers trying to get peoples EDD info. Double check on the official EDD website for the correct contact info.

This is unfortunately a common issue with the PFL disbursement system. The BofA EDD cards are sent via regular mail and often get delayed or lost. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call Bank of America EDD Debit Card customer service directly at 1-866-692-9374 2. If your card was issued but not received, they'll deactivate it and issue a new one 3. Ask for expedited shipping (they sometimes waive the fee if it's their error) 4. While waiting, you can request that they allow you to set up direct deposit to your personal account for future payments The initial card can take 7-10 business days to arrive, and replacement cards typically take 5-7 business days unless expedited. Important: Make sure all your address information is correct with both EDD and BofA, as they maintain separate systems.

This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't realize I could set up direct deposit for future payments - that would save a lot of hassle. I'll definitely ask about that.

I went thru this exact same nonsense when I had my twins last yr. spent 3 WEEKS trying to get somone on the phone at EDD. finally gave up and tried Claimyr.com - they got me connected to a real person at EDD in like 20 mins. they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 the EDD rep confirmed my card was sent to wrong address (even tho i updated my info!!!) and fixed it in their system. new card came 4 days later. worth every penny not to deal with that horrible phone system!

Is that service legit? Seems sketchy to pay someone just to call a government agency for you...

totally understand the skepticism but yes its legit. they dont call for you - they get YOU connected directly to an EDD rep. saved me hours of frustration with 2 screaming babies in the background lol

The whole EDD payment system is completely broken. I had this exact problem and called literally 37 times before getting someone who could help. The card never arrived because they sent it to my old address even though I updated everything online. Then when they sent a new one it took 3 weeks!! I missed a rent payment because of their incompetence. One thing nobody tells you - if you have to request a replacement card more than once, BofA charges like $10 each time after the first replacement. RIDICULOUS that we have to pay for their mistakes!!! Make sure to document EVERYTHING - dates you called, who you talked to, what they promised. The system is designed to wear you down so you'll give up.

Oh no, I'm worried this will happen to me too! I've tried checking online but EDD's website shows the payment was issued - just doesn't tell me anything about the card status. I'm definitely going to start keeping better records of who I talk to.

I work with EDD claimants regularly, and I can provide some clarification on this common issue: The Bank of America EDD debit cards are completely managed by BofA, not EDD directly. This creates a disconnect that frequently causes problems for claimants. For your specific situation: 1. Call BofA EDD Card Services (1-866-692-9374) to check if a card was issued 2. If a card was issued but not received within 10 business days, request a replacement 3. Ask BofA about the status of funds on the account - they can tell you if money has been deposited For future reference, once you receive your card, immediately set up direct deposit to your personal bank account through the BofA prepaid website. This way, all future payments will automatically transfer to your personal account without needing to use the card. Also, be aware that your first PFL payment might be larger than subsequent ones if it includes retroactive benefits from your filing date.

In theory this all sounds great but BofA's customer service for these EDD cards is AWFUL. I wasted hours trying to get through to someone competent who could actually help. Their automated system keeps asking for card info you don't have!!!

You're right that their automated system can be frustrating. A workaround: when prompted for your card number, press 0 repeatedly or say "representative" until it transfers you to a human. It may take several attempts, but this usually works to bypass the system.

UPDATE: I finally got this resolved! Called the BofA EDD card number and after pressing 0 about 20 times, got a real person. Turns out they sent my card on May 5th but to my old address (even though I updated it with EDD months ago). They're sending a replacement card with expedited shipping (should arrive in 3 business days) and I was able to verify that my benefit payment is sitting in the account waiting for me. I also set up direct deposit for future payments so I won't have to deal with the card again. For anyone else dealing with this - definitely call BofA directly and be persistent. The EDD and BofA systems don't communicate well with each other, so address updates in one system don't transfer to the other automatically. Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! Setting up that direct deposit was a smart move - it will make all future transactions so much smoother. Glad you were able to confirm the funds are there waiting for you.
