EDD Claim Processing Nightmare: Filed Early, Panicked, and Submitted Again - What Now?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability claim. I accidentally filed it a few days before my leave started (had some complications with my child's birth, so things were hectic). Now I'm worried because nothing has been processed yet. I panicked and submitted a new claim last night when I saw the "only submit after your first day of leave" message. My leave officially started on January 2nd. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What should I do now?

Oof, that's a tough situation. I've been there before. The best thing you can do is call them ASAP and explain what happened. They might be able to cancel the first claim and process the second one. Don't wait for them to figure it out on their own, trust me.

Listen up, I've been through the EDD ringer and I've got some advice for you: ā¢ Don't panic. Seriously, it's gonna be okay. ā¢ Call them first thing in the morning. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial at 8:00 AM sharp. ā¢ Have all your info ready - claim numbers, dates, everything. ā¢ Be polite but persistent. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. ā¢ If the first person can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. ā¢ Document everything. Write down who you talked to and what they said. ā¢ If calling doesn't work, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes they respond there. Remember, mistakes happen. They deal with this stuff all the time. Just be honest about what happened and they should be able to sort it out for you. Good luck!

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

I get the skepticism, but yeah, it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time.

How long did it take to get through?

For me, it was about 2 hours. Way better than the days I spent trying on my own.

Have you tried faxing your claim? Sometimes old school methods work better with these dinosaur agencies lol

You'd be surprised! Or use an online fax service. Modern problems require... outdated solutions? š¤·āāļø

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local EDD office. Sometimes they can help or at least give you better info.
