Trouble reaching SDI for claim status - silent calls and long hold times. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to check on my disability claim status but I'm having trouble getting through on the phone. Has anyone else experienced this? I called and when I answered, there was just silence on the other end. My phone showed the call was ongoing, but I couldn't hear anything. I'm not sure if I should hang up or stay on the line. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I've been there. The disability office's phone system is a nightmare. I've had calls drop, silence, and even weird beeping noises. It's so frustrating!

Same here! I swear they do it on purpose to discourage us from calling šŸ™„

Whatever the reason, it needs to be fixed ASAP. We're already dealing with health issues, we don't need this extra stress!

Pro tip: always hang up if there's silence. It's probably a glitch in their system. Try calling back, but be prepared to wait on hold for a looong time.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for them to get through?

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. Got stuff done around the house instead!

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the disability office: ā€¢ Always call first thing in the morning when they open ā€¢ If you get silence, hang up immediately and try again ā€¢ Keep a log of all your calls (date, time, result) ā€¢ Be persistent! Sometimes it takes multiple attempts ā€¢ Have all your claim info ready before you call ā€¢ If possible, try to use their online portal for status updates Hope this helps! Dealing with bureaucracy is a pain, but don't give up. You've got this! šŸ’Ŗ

Great tips! I'd add: if u get a real person, ask for their employee ID or name. Makes follow-ups easier

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along or at least get you some answers.

I hadn't thought of that! Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your state + 'find my representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

OP, when did you file your claim? If it's been less than 2 weeks, they might not have any updates yet. The waiting game suuuucks šŸ˜©
