Can't get through to EDD about disability claim status - no forms received yet. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my disability claim. I filed a while ago and haven't received any forms or updates yet. I've been trying to call to find out what's going on, but I can't get through. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually reach someone?

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open. I mean, set an alarm and be ready to dial at 8:00:00 AM. 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial. 3. Keep doing this until you get through to the menu. 4. Once in the menu, choose the option for 'new claims' even if that's not why you're calling. Those agents can usually help with other issues too. 5. Be prepared to wait on hold for a while, but don't give up! It took me a few tries, but I finally got through using this method. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: have all your info ready before you call. They'll ask for your SSN, claim number, etc. Being prepared can save you time once you finally get through.

Pro tip: if you have a complex issue, try to get transferred to a Tier 2 specialist. They have more authority to actually fix things.

Yep, just ask. If the first agent can't help, politely request to speak with a Tier 2 specialist. Be persistent but nice about it.

ATTENTION EVERYONE: There's a glitch in the online system right now. If you filed in the last 3 weeks, your claim might not be showing up correctly. They're supposedly working on fixing it, but who knows how long that'll take. 🙄
