Disability claim stuck 'pending' for 2 weeks - can't reach EDD. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my disability claim. It's been pending for 2 weeks now and I can't get through to anyone on the phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get an update or speak to an agent?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been stuck in the same boat for over a month now. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling first thing in the morning? Sometimes that works for me.

First thing in the morning? lol good luck with that. I've tried calling at all hours and still can't get through. It's like they don't want us to reach them šŸ™„

I heard they open the lines at exactly 8:00 AM. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59. Might improve your chances!

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll give the 7:59 trick a shot tomorrow. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

Two weeks? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 3 months with no update. The whole system is a joke. They probably lost your paperwork or something.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along. It worked for me when I was stuck in limbo for weeks.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my local rep? And what exactly should I say to them?

Just google '[your state] + state representative' and you should find a website where you can enter your address to find your rep. Tell them your situation and ask if they can help expedite your claim. Be polite but firm!

Hey, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Kinda skeptical about paying for something like this...

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to someone about our claims now? That's messed up. šŸ˜”

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get some answers. Just sharing what worked for me!

I tried it last week and it actually worked! Got through to an agent in about 45 minutes. Definitely beats calling for days on end.

Listen up, everyone. I've been through this rodeo before, so here's what you need to know: ā€¢ First, don't panic. The system is slow, but it (usually) works eventually. ā€¢ Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any communication you receive. ā€¢ Double-check that you've submitted all required documents. Sometimes they don't tell you if something's missing. ā€¢ If you can't get through on the phone, try their online portal or email system. ā€¢ Be persistent but polite. The people on the other end are probably overwhelmed too. ā€¢ If all else fails, contact your local representative or ombudsman. Remember, you're not alone in this. The process is frustrating, but hang in there. And don't be afraid to ask for help if you're struggling mentally or financially while waiting.

Great advice! I wish I had known all this when I first filed my claim. Would've saved me so much stress.

Thank you so much for this detailed response. It's really helpful to have a game plan. I'll definitely start keeping better records of everything.

Has anyone else noticed that the online portal is always 'under maintenance' when you actually need to use it? šŸ™„ It's like they're trying to make this as difficult as possible.

omg yes! I swear it's a conspiracy to keep us from filing claims šŸ˜‚

Pro tip: Try accessing the portal late at night or early morning. Less traffic means it's more likely to work.

Idk if this helps, but I read somewhere that they're super backlogged because of covid still. Might explain why everything's taking forever. Hang in there, OP!
