Struggling to reach CA SDI - Spanish vs English lines, any tips to get through?
Hey everyone, I've been trying to get through to SDI in California for days now. I started with the Spanish line, but the wait times were insane. Then I switched to English, hoping it would be faster. Anyone else having trouble reaching them? It's so frustrating to be stuck on hold forever. Any tips on the best time to call or how to get through quicker?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been trying to reach them for weeks. It's like they don't want us to get our benefits or something. 🙄 Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that might work better.

Calling when they open is hit or miss. I tried that and still waited for 2 hours before giving up. This system is so broken 😤

I had better luck calling around 3pm. Less people trying to get through then, I guess. Still took forever tho

Thanks for the tips! I'll try calling at different times and see if it helps. This whole process is so exhausting.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just another scam targeting desperate people?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved. They even have a money-back guarantee if it doesn't work.

Can you share more details about how it went? How long did it take for them to call you back?

Sure! After I paid, it took about 45 minutes before I got a call. The agent was already on the line when I answered. Saved me hours of frustration. Totally worth it IMO.

Has anyone tried using the online portal instead of calling? I've heard mixed things about it, but wondering if it might be faster than sitting on hold all day.

I tried the online portal and it was a nightmare. Half the features didn't work and I ended up having to call anyway. 🤦♂️

The online portal worked okay for me, but it took forever to get a response. Like, weeks. If you need something urgent, calling is probably still better.

Pro tip: if you're bilingual, try both the English and Spanish lines. Sometimes one is less busy than the other. I've had luck switching between them.

I swear, dealing with SDI is like a full-time job itself. 😫 Between the endless hold times, the confusing website, and the conflicting info from different agents, it's a miracle anyone gets their benefits at all.

Preach! 🙌 I've spent more time trying to get my benefits than I would've spent working. It's ridiculous.

For real tho. They need to hire more people or something. This cant be the best way to run things

Here's what I've learned after months of dealing with SDI: 1. Persistence is key. Don't give up, even if it takes multiple calls. 2. Keep detailed records of every interaction, including agent names and call reference numbers. 3. Use the online portal for simple stuff, but call for complex issues. 4. Be polite but firm with agents. They're overworked too. 5. If you're not getting anywhere, ask to speak to a supervisor. 6. Consider using a paid service like Claimyr if you're really stuck. 7. Check your spam folder regularly for emails from SDI. 8. Join Facebook groups or forums for real-time updates and tips. Hope this helps someone! We're all in this together. 💪

Great advice! I'd add: make sure all your docs are in order before calling. It saves time and frustration for everyone.

Anyone else feel like the system is designed to make us give up? It's like they're hoping we'll just stop trying to get the benefits we're entitled to. 🤔

100% this. It's a war of attrition and they're counting on us to surrender. Don't let them win!

Idk about that. I think they're just underfunded and overwhelmed. Still sucks for us tho

LPT: If you have a complex case, try to get an in-person appointment at an SDI office. It's usually faster and more effective than phone calls or online stuff.
