SDI payment delayed - missing docs or verification issues?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI payment. It's been delayed and I'm not sure why. Has anyone else experienced this? I think it might be because of some missing documents or verification issues, but I'm not 100% sure. Any advice on how to handle this or what to ask when I finally get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last month. Have you checked your online account to see if there are any notifications about missing documents? Sometimes they don't tell you directly and you have to dig around to find out what's holding things up.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check my online account. Did you end up finding any missing docs when you looked?

Yeah, turns out I forgot to upload a copy of my latest pay stub š¤¦āāļø Once I sent that in, things moved pretty quickly. Def worth double-checking everything!

I've been dealing with SDI for what feels like forever. Here's what I've learned: ā¢ Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit ā¢ Call first thing in the morning, right when they open ā¢ Be super nice to the rep, even if you're frustrated (they deal with angry people all day) ā¢ Ask specifically what documents are missing or need verification ā¢ Get the name and ID of whoever you talk to ā¢ Follow up with an email summarizing your call Hope this helps! Hang in there, it's a process but you'll get through it.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. Did you find that emailing after the call made a big difference?

Absolutely! It creates a paper trail and holds them accountable. Plus, if you have to call again, you can reference the previous conversation. It's saved my butt more than once!

have you tried faxing your documents? i know it sounds crazy in 2023 but sometimes the old school methods work best with these government agencies lol

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I get the skepticism, but honestly, after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth every penny to me. Saved me a ton of time and stress.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! So basically, you choose the department you need to reach on their website, pay the fee, and then their system starts calling. It navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. They don't guarantee it'll work every time, but if it doesn't, you can try again for free.

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it if you're desperate to get through.

Interesting. How long did you have to wait after using the service?

Not long at all. Maybe 30 minutes? Way better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account for any pending tasks or messages 2. Make sure all your documents are up to date and uploaded 3. If you can't find anything wrong, try calling the SDI office directly 4. Be prepared with your claim number and any relevant dates 5. Ask specifically about what's causing the delay and what you can do to resolve it 6. If they mention missing documents, ask for specifics and deadlines 7. Take notes during the call and get the name of the person you speak with Remember, persistence is key. Don't be afraid to follow up if things aren't resolved quickly. Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along when you're stuck in bureaucratic limbo.

pro tip: if you can, try to find out the direct number for a specific department. sometimes you can bypass the main menu hell and get to a real person faster

It's not easy, but sometimes you can find them buried on their website or by asking around in forums like this. I've had luck with asking for a 'escalation team' number too.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite things with SDI. Worth a shot if you're really stuck.

I hadn't even thought of that! Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'assembly member'. Their office should have a contact form or phone number. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with state agency issues.

Can confirm this works. My assembly member's office helped me resolve an EDD issue last year. They have connections we don't!
