SDI Payment Delay: How Long for CA EDD Disability Checks to Arrive?
Hey everyone, I'm waiting on my disability payment and I'm not sure when it's supposed to come through. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm getting kinda anxious about it. How long does it usually take for these payments to show up? Any tips on how to check the status or speed things up?

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out payments.

I didn't even know there was an online account! How do I set that up?

Just go to the disability services website and look for 'create account' or 'login'. You'll need your SSN and some other info. It's pretty straightforward.

The online account can also show previous payment history, which might be helpful to gauge when your next payment might arrive.

In my experience, it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks after approval. But that's just me. The system is so backed up rn its ridiculous π

True, and with the current situation, services are more delayed than usual. Patience is key, but I know how stressful it can be!

Have you considered reaching out to a disability advocate? They can sometimes help navigate the system and speed things up.

Great suggestion! Advocates have experience with the system and can sometimes push things along when you hit a roadblock.

While services like Claimyr do provide a solution, it's important to remember they come at a cost and should be used as a last resort. For those who can't afford the fee, persistence and utilizing free resources are key. Daily attempts at calling, setting up online accounts, and contacting local representatives are all critical steps. Also, consider filing a complaint if the wait is excessively long, as this can sometimes prompt action.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before, so here's the deal: β’ First, double-check that all your paperwork is in order. Any missing docs can delay things. β’ Set up that online account if you haven't already. It's a game-changer. β’ If you're really in a bind, reach out to your local representative's office. They can sometimes expedite things. β’ Keep a paper trail of EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. β’ Don't be afraid to be a squeaky wheel. The system is overloaded, but persistence pays off. Remember, the typical timeline is 2-6 weeks, but with COVID and everything, all bets are off. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to ask for help if you're really struggling.

Absolutely agree! Especially the bit about the paper trail, it comes in handy if you ever need to dispute anything.

Just a heads up, make sure you're budgeting carefully. Even when approved, payments can be inconsistent. Don't wanna leave you up a creek without a paddle!

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, you have to PAY to talk to someone about your benefits? That's messed up.

I get the skepticism, but I swear it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know? π€·ββοΈ

While Claimyr can be helpful, remember that there are free options as well. Keep trying the direct line, and if you're comfortable with spending the money, Claimyr could be a good last resort.

Ugh, I feel ya. The waiting game is the worst. Have you tried calling their hotline? Sometimes you can get more info that way.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's still a pain, but your chances are better.

I second that! If you can make the call early, it increases your odds of getting through without waiting too long. Also, consider using a second phone if you have one to try multiple times.
