Returning to SDI after being off since November - what to expect?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I was on disability until November last year, and now I'm thinking about going back on it. Has anyone gone through the process of returning to disability after being off for a while? What should I expect? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, the whole disability system is such a mess. I've been dealing with them for years and it's always a headache. Good luck with your return process, you're gonna need it! šŸ™„

Tell me about it! I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from applying. šŸ˜¤

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

100% legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it worked like a charm. Saved me so much time and stress.

@profile 6 I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. I spent HOURS trying to get through before. This was worth every penny for me.

Here's what you need to know about returning to disability: ā€¢ First, check if you're still within your benefit year. If not, you'll need to file a new claim. ā€¢ Gather all your medical documentation showing your condition has worsened or changed. ā€¢ You'll likely need a new doctor's certification. ā€¢ Be prepared for a possible waiting period, depending on your state's rules. ā€¢ Keep detailed records of all your communications with the disability office. Remember, every case is different. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you're unsure about anything in the process. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! Really helpful. Quick question - do you know how long the waiting period usually is?

It varies by state, but typically it's around 7 days. Some states waive it if you're returning within a certain timeframe. Best to check with your local office for specifics.

Have you considered looking into partial disability? Might be easier to qualify for if your condition has improved somewhat since November.

I hadn't even thought of that! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely look into it.

Just went thru this myself. Make sure you keep ALL your paperwork from your previous claim. They might ask for it and it's a pain to get copies. Also, don't forget to follow up regularly - squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that jazz. šŸ’Æ
