Ugh, the wait times are brutal these days. I called last week and was on hold for over 2 hours before I gave up. It's ridiculous how understaffed they are.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the wait. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Pro tip: If you need that form ASAP, you might be able to download it from their website. I did that for my last claim extension and it saved me a ton of time. Just search for "disability claim extension form" on the official site.

Here's what I've learned: • Best times to call are Tuesday-Thursday, avoid Mondays and Fridays • Try calling at odd times, like 10:37 AM or 2:13 PM • Have all your info ready before you call (claim number, dates, etc.) • Be super nice to the agent when you finally get one, they deal with angry people all day • If you get disconnected, ask for a direct callback number Hope this helps someone!
