EDD sent me 2 wrong overpayment notices ($1620 & $3240). How to fix?
I just got two overpayment notices from EDD and both of them are wrong. One says I owe $1620 and the other says $3240. These amounts are completely incorrect. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you get it fixed? I'm worried about having to pay back money I don't actually owe.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Got a notice saying I owe $2500 which is way off. Called EDD like 50 times and couldn't get through. This system is so broken 🤬

•have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds archaic but I've heard it can work

•Faxing? What year is this, 1995? 😂 But seriously, might give it a shot. You got a fax number?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. Used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to EDD in like an hour instead of calling for days

•$20 just to talk to EDD? That's highway robbery!

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Spent way more than $20 in time trying to get through on my own

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your payment records and any communication from EDD 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining the error 3. Include copies (not originals) of supporting documents 4. Send it via certified mail with return receipt 5. Keep calling until you get through (use the trick in the comments if needed) 6. If you get nowhere, contact your state representative Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease 💪

•This is solid. I'd add: keep a log of every call, letter, and interaction. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

I had a similar issue last year. Took me 3 months to resolve but I finally got it fixed. Don't give up!

Has anyone tried going to an EDD office in person? Wonder if that would be faster than calling

•I tried that last month. Waited 4 hours only to be told I needed to call the main line anyway. Total waste of time 😑

PRO TIP: If you can prove the overpayment wasn't your fault, you can request a waiver. Google 'EDD overpayment waiver' for the form
