EDD phone nightmare: Called multiple times, finally got through but no one there. How to actually reach a human?

Ugh, classic EDD. Their phone system is a total nightmare. I've been dealing with this for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to anyone 🤬

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck getting through if I start dialing at 7:59 AM and keep redialing until I get in the queue.

Pro tip: use the online portal to request a callback. It's still a wait, but at least you're not stuck on the phone all day.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the main number (1-800-300-5616) 2. Press 1 for English 3. Then press 2, 4 4. You'll get to a menu where you can choose to file a new claim. Don't do that. 5. Instead, wait until you hear the prompt for existing claims and press 1 6. Then press 2 for payment questions This usually gets me to a real person within 30-45 minutes.
