EDD payment only 1/4 of normal amount for 3 days instead of 2 weeks - disability extended but money needed urgently

Hey everyone, I'm freaking out here. Just got my disability payment and it's way less than usual. Like, a quarter of what I normally get! And it's only for 3 days instead of the usual 2 weeks. My doctor extended my disability and EDD already has the paperwork. I really need this money. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, that sucks man. EDD's been a total mess lately. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be persistent to get answers.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week.

I had a similar issue last month. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that messed up a bunch of payments. Keep calling and don't give up! They eventually fixed it for me, but it took like 2 weeks of pestering them.

This is why I always tell people to have an emergency fund. You can't rely on the government to get things right, especially with all the budget cuts lately.

Wow, way to victim blame. Not everyone can afford to save up when they're living paycheck to paycheck. 🙄

I'm not blaming anyone, just stating a fact. It's important to be prepared for these situations.

I get what you're saying, but when you're on disability, it's not always possible to save. Every penny counts.

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You just put in your phone number on their website, and they start calling EDD for you. When they get a real person, they connect the call to your phone. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there's more info there about why payments are different. Might save you a phone call if you're lucky.

Good idea, I'll take a look. Tbh I always forget about the online portal lol

OK, let me break this down for you. I've been dealing with EDD for years, and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the dates of your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Check your online account for any messages or notices you might have missed. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try contacting them through social media. Sometimes they respond faster there. 4. Reach out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. Make sure all your paperwork is in order. Double-check that your doctor sent in everything correctly. 6. If all else fails, file an appeal. You have the right to challenge their decision. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits.

Totally agree. We need to push for reform. This isn't working for anyone except the bureaucrats.
