EDD denied my claim saying no proof provided, but I sent everything. What now?

I'm so frustrated with EDD right now. I sent in my California driver's license and a copy of my tax return for identity verification back in September, but they still denied my claim saying I didn't provide proof. I submitted everything online like they asked. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do now?

I found a way to solve EDD identity verification denial issue, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmZd-UQv--8

Ugh, that sucks. EDD is such a mess. I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get lucky and find someone helpful on the phone.

I've been trying to call for weeks but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

Calling is useless. I spent 3 hours on hold just to be hung up on 🤬

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to get through?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent picked up.

Here's what you need to do: 1. File an appeal immediately. You have 30 days from the date of the denial to do this. 2. In your appeal, clearly state that you submitted your driver's license and tax return on Sept 16. 3. Include copies of the documents again with your appeal. 4. If you have any confirmation emails or screenshots showing you submitted the docs, include those too. 5. Request a hearing. 6. While waiting for the hearing, try to get through to EDD on the phone. Keep detailed notes of all your attempts. 7. Consider contacting your state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. 8. If all else fails, look into legal aid services in your area. Some offer free help with EDD issues. Don't give up! The system is broken, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll start working on the appeal right away.

This is solid advice. I went through something similar and following these steps eventually got my claim approved. Hang in there, OP!

have you tried faxing your documents? sometimes the online system glitches and doesnt actually upload stuff. i know its archaic but faxing worked for me lol

This is why I always tell people to take screenshots of EVERYTHING when dealing with EDD. Their system is so buggy, you need proof of every single thing you do.

💯 this. I learned the hard way. Now I screenshot, print, AND save to the cloud.

Have you considered reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues. It's worth a shot!

I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your city + 'state assembly member' or 'state senator'. Their websites usually have a 'Contact Us' form or a phone number. Explain your situation and ask if they can help with an EDD issue.
