EDD claim effective date change request stuck in limbo for a month - no confirmation, can't reach agent. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. About a month ago, I requested a change to my claim effective date. I sent in some paperwork hoping to get it approved, but nothing has happened yet. The effective date still hasn't changed, and I haven't received any confirmation that they got my documents. I've tried calling, but no luck getting through to an agent. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get some answers?

Ugh, welcome to EDD hell. 🤦♂️ I swear they're purposely making it impossible to get anything done. Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that works better than mailing.

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't tried faxing yet. Do you know if there's a specific fax number for claim date changes?

I don't know about a specific number for claim date changes, but here's the general fax number I've used before: 1-855-342-3057. Worth a shot!

Faxing in 2023? What is this, the stone age? 😂 But for real, it actually does work sometimes. EDD living in the past smh

I feel your pain, OP. I've been stuck in EDD limbo for weeks now. It's like shouting into the void. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They sometimes have connections that can help speed things up.

Okay, listen up because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Send your documents again, but this time use certified mail with return receipt. This way, you have proof they received it. 3. Call first thing in the morning, right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial at 7:59 AM. 4. If you still can't get through, try the trick of calling the employer line and then asking to be transferred to claims. 5. As a last resort, contact your local assembly member or state senator. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. 6. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but persistence pays off. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try the certified mail thing. Quick question - do you know if there's a specific form I should use for requesting the claim date change?

You're welcome! For claim date changes, you typically need to submit a written request. There's no specific form, but make sure to include your full name, Social Security number, and a clear explanation of why you're requesting the change. Also, provide any supporting documents that back up your request.

have you tried praying to the EDD gods? 🙏 Maybe sacrifice your last unemployment check as an offering lmao

I tried that, but the EDD gods only accept firstborn children as sacrifices now. Inflation, ya know? 😂

Hey, I know it's frustrating, but I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Can confirm, I used it too. Felt kinda ridiculous paying, but after wasting hours trying to call myself, it was a lifesaver.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried sending a message through UI Online? Sometimes they actually respond there, and it's all documented in the system.

I didn't even know that was an option! I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

I'm in the same boat, friend. It's been two months for me, and I'm still waiting. The system is so broken. Hang in there!

Two months? Amateur. Try six months of this nonsense. I'm pretty sure I'll be eligible for social security before EDD gets back to me 😭

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system. I once missed important updates because they had my old address.
