EDD Disqualification Mystery: No Reason Given, Future Date Listed - Help!

Hey everyone, I just got disqualified from unemployment and I have no idea why. The date they gave me is 11/30/24, but I'm totally lost on the reason. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

First thing you need to do is check any notices or letters from EDD. They usually send something explaining why you were disqualified. Have you received anything in the mail or your online account?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, and I don't see any new messages in my online account. Should I just wait for something to show up?

Hmm, that's odd. Sometimes it takes a few days for the notice to arrive. I'd say give it a week, but if you don't get anything by then, you should definitely call EDD to ask about it. Better to be proactive than wait and potentially miss an appeal deadline.

Agreed with profile 1. Don't just sit around waiting. EDD can be slow AF with their notices sometimes. Call them ASAP and get the info directly. The sooner you know, the sooner you can appeal if needed.

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD system is such a mess rn. I got disqualified last year for some BS reason and had to fight tooth and nail to get it sorted. My advice? Start gathering ALL your employment docs now. Pay stubs, W2s, everything. You'll need em if you gotta appeal.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, double-check that your address is correct in your account. I've heard horror stories of people missing important notices because EDD had an old address on file.

Good call! Just checked my spam and there's nothing there. My address is correct too. Guess I'll have to wait it out or try calling. 😓

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam? $20 to make a phone call? 🤔

Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too at first, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny when you're dealing with EDD bs.

How long did it take to get through? I've been trying to call EDD for weeks with no luck.

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. The service called me when an agent picked up. Way better than wasting a whole day trying to get through.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your UI Online account daily for any new messages or notices. 2. Keep an eye on your mail for any letters from EDD. 3. If you don't receive anything within a week, call EDD immediately. 4. While waiting, gather all your employment documents (pay stubs, W2s, etc.) just in case. 5. If you do get a disqualification notice, read it carefully. You usually have 30 days to appeal. 6. If you need to appeal, do it ASAP. Don't wait until the last minute. 7. Consider getting legal aid if your case is complicated. Some nonprofits offer free help with EDD issues. Remember, a disqualification doesn't always mean you're permanently ineligible. Sometimes it's just a misunderstanding or missing information. Don't give up!

Have you worked any side gigs or reported any income while on unemployment? Sometimes that can trigger a disqualification if not reported correctly.

Ellie Kim

Nope, I haven't worked at all since I started claiming. That's why I'm so confused about this disqualification.

Hmm, that is weird then. Definitely push for more info from EDD. Could be a system glitch or identity verification issue. Don't let them ghost you!

Plot twist: What if the disqualification is for a future date? Like, maybe they're saying you'll be disqualified starting 11/30/24? That date you mentioned is in the future, right? 🤔

Oh snap, you're right! I didn't even notice that. Now I'm even more confused. Can they even do that?

Woah, good catch! That's super weird. I've never heard of EDD disqualifying someone in advance. Definitely need to get clarification on this ASAP.
