CA SDI Eligibility Question - Worked Oct to Aug, Need Help with Requirements!
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if I'm eligible for California SDI. I worked from October last year to August this year. Does anyone know what the requirements are? I'm not sure about the base period calculation or if I meet the earnings requirement. Any help would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve California SDI eligibility questions, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAxKzrGIMI4

I went through this process recently! Here's what you need to know: • Reason for Leave: SDI covers disabilities from illness, injury, or pregnancy. Make sure your reason fits. • Medical Certification: You'll need a doctor to confirm your disability. • Earnings: You must have earned at least $300 during your base period. • Base Period: It's usually the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters before your claim. Since you worked for almost a year, you should meet the earnings requirement. Just make sure you have all your documentation ready when you apply. Good luck!

This is super helpful, thanks for breaking it down! 👍 Do you know how long it usually takes for them to process a claim?

In my experience, it took about 2-3 weeks to get a decision. But I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Just make sure all your paperwork is in order to avoid delays!

I know, right? It's tough. But if you're approved, they'll backpay you from the date your disability started. So at least you'll get that money eventually!

Has anyone else had trouble getting through to EDD on the phone? I've been trying for days and can't get a human on the line. It's so frustrating!

Omg yes! I thought it was just me. I've been calling non-stop and always get the 'too busy' message. How are we supposed to get help??

I found a way to get through! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That seems kinda sketchy... Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks. It's worth it if you really need to talk to someone. They even refund you if it doesn't work.

Thanks for sharing! I might give this a try. Anything's better than listening to that hold music for hours 😂

Quick tip: make sure you keep ALL your pay stubs and employment records handy. They might ask for proof of your work history and its a pain to track down later.

Nah, I think it's just underfunded and outdated. But yeah, it sure feels that way sometimes!

Pro tip: If you're having trouble with the online application, try using a different browser. For some reason, it worked better for me in Firefox than Chrome.

Does anyone know if gig work counts towards the earnings requirement? I did some freelancing last year but im not sure if that qualifies

I think it depends on how you reported it. If you paid taxes on it as self-employment income, it should count. But don't quote me on that!

You might wanna check with a tax professional on that one. The rules for gig workers can be tricky.
